Newb here, so please go easy - it's highly likely that I'm just being a little dim

I have an imate jam which I purchased through ebay - the problem I have is that when I connect it to my pc (home/Win2K or work/xpsp2) via USB activesync doen't see it, nor do my pc's find a driver for it. Yet I can connect via irda and bt with no problem.

When I connect the USB cable my jam lights up, and the battery charges - but there's no data transfer - and I've tried many cables just to be sure.

Any body got any ideas how I can fix this? Or is it a service centre job?
