Just want to say that I have loaded Microsoft Voice Command (Version 1.5) on my new Jam.
Although in general I hate Microsoft, and wish a pox on Bill Gates, I must say that this software is awesome!!! It is absolutely 100% accurate in recognizing my voice and following commands. I am getting to where I rarely even look at the display. I make all of my phone calls using it; dialing either by name from my Contact list, or by saying what number to dial. I ask for my next meeting, or the entire day's agenda, and it reads them off to me. I don't use the Start menu, I just tell it to launch any application I want to use.
It was this application alone that made me switch from my beloved Palm Operating System. Loaded on the Jam, this is absolutely fantastic.
My question was regarding using both voice command and a bluetooth headset simultaneously. my bluetooth m2500 plantronics works likes a champ! but i'm considering the purchase of voice command and am wondering i can use it to place calls while using the m2500 headset.
do you use your jabra 220 with your voice command?
I should have been more specific. I meant that it works very well with MS Voice Command. I've been able to test most of the features and I haven't run into any issues yet.
Can you place a call directly from your jabra headset without actually pushing any buttons on your xda mini? Or do you need to at least push one or more buttons on the device first? Could you please tell me how you actually go about using it? Does the jabra have anything special to work with voice command (i.e. an extra programmable button for instance?) Thanks.
You nailed it on the head. The one issue I have is that I have to activate voice command by pressing a programmed button when I want to start interacting with a call.
To my knowledge, the Jabra headset doesn't have any programable buttons, just the phone on/off and volume up/down buttons.
i too have the MS voice command and am very impressed, although it sucks at recognising the "dial #####" command for digits. It ALWAYS gets the digits wrong. I guess it must be my Aussie accent huh.
Anyway I have a motorola BT headset and even though I use it with calls which I initiated with voice command, I can't actually use the head set to issue the verbal command. The Jam always listens to the built in mic and plays through the speaker.
Now - elsewhere on this forum is an article about fixing that with a utility called BTAUDIO. I think it is for a different processor but it's description fits the bill to fix the issue.
Originally posted by shaskin So how does it work with a Bluetooth headset?
Originally not supported, but there is a way around. I've got this button on the bluetooth, when I use it, I get the speed dialer.... (sddialer.exe)
I just copied the voicecommand.exe to the map where the sddialer.exe is (I'm using WM2005, and it was in the windows map under the device),
additional you can make a backup of sddialer, just copy it to some place, but wonder if it is really needed, cuz on my device it was kindof auto-backup.
Rename the voicecommand.exe to sddialer.exe and overwrite the original file
Voice Command should be working with bluetooth now....(in stead of speed dial, you get voice command)
When you want original sddialer.exe back, just rename the sddialer.exe (the voicecommand.exe which you renamed) back to for example sdvoicecommand.exe and the original sddialer should backup automatically (at least it does on my device)
hope this helps you out...
