SMS reply problems

So I can send SMS messages fine when I type in the number, or select the recipient from my contacts.

But when I REPLY to a SMS message, it never makes it to the person! It says "message sent" but the person says they didn't get it. I also went to options and clicked delivery confirmation. nada.

I've tracked down the difference:
when I receive a SMS message, the sender's number has a "+1" before the number. It won't be delivered if i put a +1 before the number.

So the question is: how do I stop the phone from adding the +1 to the phone number that comes in?

What I've tried:
In the connections/advanced there is a dial rules button. It was not selected. I selected it, then edited the different dial rules- getting rid of the + and the E (country code). Still didn't work right.

Also, I'm not sure if this has always happened, so I did a hard reset- same problem.

Was it the Rom update I installed? T-mobile USA settings. Went to the remove programs box and removed it. Still does it. Hard reset again. Still does it.

HELP!! thanks

Anyone have any leads? Seen this problem?

I've noticed the exact same problem with my SMS as well. I have TMobile USA. I use SMS rarely enough that I thought it was just me until I read this post.

Anyone have a lead on a fix?

I installed the USA operator settings, maybe I should try and load a previous version of the ROM?

I don't want to kill the phone. Anyone have any experience installing a previous version of the ROM

I'm not convinced that it has anything to do with the ROM. Prior to the jam I had an hp 6315 and it had the same problem. Maybe it's Windows Mobile?
