I have downloaded the YouTube mobile viewer from Google, but when I try to view a video, it looks like RealPlayer is starting and I get a message telling me the file format is not supported. Can any one else view YouTube? Am I missing something?
I use an add-on package for TCPMP called Flash Video Bundle. It lets you use the full YouTube version and let you save or stream right into TCPMP. Google for it-I'd attach it but I don't have it on my storage card.
Install the 2 .cab files contained in this zip to be able to watch youtube videos on your tilt. One is tcpmp and the other is the flash video addon as mentioned by UPREY.
When you go to youtube in pocketie it will probably take you to their youtube mobile site. Go to the normal site and watch videos as you would on your computer. The mobile site only has select videos formatted for mobile phones...the selection is quite limited compared to normal youtube.

Another great option is vtap. Just go to vtap mobile videos from your mobile IE and install the software. vtap has vids from other flash sites, (my fave being nfl.com). I have the tcmp+flash bundle and vtap installed for the best of both worlds.

Forget using TCPMP. HTC released software a while back that supports the mobile youtube sites. Go looking for a program called "HTC Streaming Media". It leaves next to no footprint and is native on the Tilt/TYTN II. It should be noted that you may have a conflict with real player mobile which comes preloaded on the Tilt from AT$T. XDA-developer has some advice on cofiguring around it. Happy usage. Nice side note: It autoruns when you click on youtube mobile videos. It's all automated and optimized!
What's the difference between HTC Streaming Media & TCPMP? You still have to install software and visit youtube web site to stream the video.
When viewing youtube videos using pocket ie or opera mini - it automatically launched TCPMP and able to view. So I don't understand what the difference would be.
Also, this has been mentioned earlier in posts. To eliminate real player and all the bloatware AT&T throws on, after performing the first default setup, reboot the TILT before three seconds. Otherwise, all that crap gets thrown on it....
On my TILT, Real Player was embedded with the OS. Doing a soft-reset before the AT&T setup loaded didn't fix it. The realplayer app was still there. It was odd but oh well. As for the issue of TCPMP versus HTC Streaming Video... I can't say. If you like using TCPMP (it is the best video player for the phone!) go for it. HTC Streaming Media appears to have a smaller footprint for streaming videos and it doesn't require any configuration or additional codecs.
Originally, I had problems getting the codec to work with TCPMP on my TILT and I thought it might be an issue of using the wrong codec or a setup problem; After trying both the Smartphone and the PocketPC codecs for TCPMP, it still didn't work and with the AT&T branded TILT, I couldn't get it to autorun when I used YouTube mobile (There's a registry setting that speicifies Real Player, I could turn it off, but not redirect it). Long Story short, even before I switched to Dutty's Hybrid Rom, Streaming Media was working perfectly.
no problems here what so ever getting youtube (TCPMP) working. Make sure that you follow the directions explicity as posted in the manual at the web site. Failure not following the directions correctly will result in not watching the vids.
