HTC TyTN II locking up

Hi
I have had the TyTN II for about 18 months now and have upgraded to Windows 6.1. After doing this I noticed it seems to lock up - tapping the screen does nothing then after about 10-15 secs it will accept an input. It has been back to HTC 3 times and they have replace just about everything but it is still the same so I gave up sending it back to them and decided that I would just have to live with it.

Just recently I discovered that if I had the WiFi enabled then it worked absolutely perfectly. Unfortunately this seems to run the battery down quite quickly especially if I am out and about outside of WiFi range.

I have also noticed that if I am out of mobile range then the battery discharges very quickly (within 24 hours). Is this normal?

Any ideas would be warmly welcomed.

What apps do you have on the phone? I didn't experience this on mine, so it may be related to an application that's looking for the WiFi or a higher speed data connection.

The only app that I have installed is a Sudoku game and I have tried without it installed and still get the same sort of problem.

Is it possible that there is some software setting that is incorrect?

It's always possible that there's a bad software setting. Have you tried doing a hard reset? Or re-applying the ROM upgrade?

Yes I have tried a hard reset.

When you say re-apply the ROM upgrade I sssume that you mean the upgrade to 6.1 - yes I have done this.

One question though. If the device is out of mobile coverage (yes such places do exist!) do you find that the battery discharges very quickly (say within 24 hours) - almost as if it is spending its energy searching for a network (never happened to me when I had a "standard" mobile phone). I find exactly the same with the WiFi - if that is enabled and I am out of WiFi coverage the battery is discharged within 24 hours.

Is this abnormal?

I find that I can't get much more than 24 hours out of the battery whether in range or not, particularly with some usage. With any significant usage, it's certainly lower. Wi-Fi (whether you are associated with an AP or not) will certainly drain the battery much faster.

I'd say it's not abnormal.
