Question Reformatting an HTC TyTN II

Hi - hope someone can help. I recently got an HTC TyTN II Kaiser from a friend and it appears to be Brazilian (i think). Anyway, anybody know of away to reformat and reinstall Windows mobile 6 pro in English? It's a Claro (?) Qualcom phone, but I'm just looking to use it as a Pocket PC.

Any help would be great - thanks.

I believe you can download ROMs from HTC site.

HTC - Touch Phone, PDA Phone, Smartphone, Mobile Computer

Yea - tried it - the update says not the right version, which I assume means 'cause it's foreign so may be screwed. I mean, I'm sure i could take it somewhere and have them unlock and wipe it, but thought I might be able to do it here

Hit XDA-Developers site and go to the TyTN II Wiki. You'll be able to grab HardSPL (which you need to flash ROMs) and find a slew of ROMs. Some of those will be cooked, some will be stock, so you'll be able to take your pick.

After you flash the ROM, check that your keyboard's key presses work correctly. You may also need to poke around and find out how to remap individual keys that aren't working.

cant you just do a hard reset and select english as the language on the setup?

My TyTN II says Singapore/Vietnam on the box but I just selected english when I hard reset it.

To do a hard reset...

Hold both soft keys and push a paperclip into the reset hole in the bottom (the round hole, not the oval microphone hole). Keep holding the soft keys till some text comes on the screen and hit the call answer button to accept it.
