p4550 unbranded settings for att network?

just got a p4550 unbranded. I have an existing att account. The settings have no option for att or anything in USA for that fact. Can anyone shed some light as how to setup the phone? I am able to get it connected using other network names , just enough to make and receive calls, but it keeps sending me an error message that it is not recognizing the network and wants to reconfigure automatically. If this is newbee stuff please don't flame , but send me some links on learning resources. TIA.

Have you let it automatically configure the phone when it prompts you? When you insert a SIM, the phone can set things up automatically for the network it sees.

These issues are upon getting a new sim from my att store. The store representative was less than helpfull, and said he could offer no support.

Not sure I'm understanding the problem, so I'll break it down into questions.

1. Do you have a new SIM from AT&T?

2. If you do, did the phone prompt you to configure the network when you inserted it?

3. If it didn't, do you have Settings - Connections - Connection Setup to run?

Typically, inserting a new SIM should prompt you to configure the new network. If that didn't happen, then #3 should fix it. If you run that and it still doesn't work, call up customer support and tell them your device lost the settings and won't connect. They should provide them to you.
