There's a couple of things to try:
1. Hold down both soft keys (the "-" icons over the IE and E-mail icons) while you hit the power button. This may trigger a hard reset, but may reboot.
2. Hold down the same buttons, but press and hold the camera button. This may get you to the bootloader screen where you can try starting a ROM install again.
3. Take the battery out for a few hours and then try again. Since the phone uses a solid state form of memory, a residual charge can very rarely cause problems.
4. Charge your phone overnight (or at least for several hours), then see if it will power on. It's possible (unlikely, but possible) that your battery is completely exhausted or is reporting as such. Having pulled it out and reinserted it, charging may reset the safety circuitry for the battery and get you back to a working state.
