PIE will no longer connect but Opera Mini will

Just got my Tilt yesterday and have spent the better part of today reloading apps, entering reg codes etc. About the only tweak I have done is to freeup the PTT button so I can use that for something else.

Somewhere along the line PIE got hosed up. No matter what site I try and browse to I get "Locating" or "Connecting" in the status bar and eventually it fails. OM 4.1 goes out fine, so I am sure it is not the connection. 3G and Active Sync (well, WMDC) both fail. Wi-fi DOES work (with PIE). I can't imagine what I could have screwed up. Any ideas?

If you just got the phone and you applied apps & tweaks, then I'd suggest doing a hard reset. Then install the apps and tweaks one at a time and test to see if PIE still works. If it does, move to the next one. If it doesn't, you know what your issue is.

If you get through it all and it never fails, then it's one of those "Windows moments" and just move along.

Thanks. I thought about biting the bullet and doing that. I guess I could also do a backup, reset and recover. Since PIE is mostly in ROM that might work. Or maybe Opera will release AM 9.5 today and then I won't care. Or better yet, AT&T will release the WM 6.1 ROM

I doubt recovering from backup would help. If the hard reset works, it indicates that something is overwriting a file from ROM (which you can do - the installed file will take precedence) or there's a wonky registry setting (more likely). If that's the case, the restore will very likely recreate the problem exactly.

Now having a good backup that you keep after it works would be a good idea...

My thought had been to reset, test and then recover and see what happens. But after thinking about this a bit more there are rumors that AT&T will release a 6.1 ROM in July so I may just wait that out.
