Brand new HTC TyTN II will not sync with computer at all???

I just got a new TyTN II from mobilepc.com and i am having some problems right out of the box.

When I plus the mini usb wall charger into the phone it will only charge if there is pressure on the cord at just the right angle.

When I plug the usb cord that syncs the TyTN II with the computer nothing happens. Active sync does not detect the HTC TyTN II at all and the TyTN II doe snot charge at all.

Is this a common problem? Could it be the cord? Should I just try and send it back?

Any thoughts or advice?

Sounds like you've either got a bad USB cable or a bad USB port (either on the TyTN II or the PC).

Do other USB devices work on the USB port that you're plugging the phone into?

Do you have another mini-USB cable you can try?

Do you have another computer you can try connecting the phone to to see if the problem "goes away" when you do?

Given that you've saying the phone only charges when you're putting pressure on the cable at the phone at just the right angle, I suspect it's the phone and you should contact mobilepc.com about the issue. But taking the steps above will help make your case.

Firewall? AV?

What OS are you running?

This can happen if you have the XP firewall turned on, or possibly an Antivirus product running.

Same thing happened to me. Easy enough to test. Temporarily turn off your Firewall, wait a minute and then plug in the TytnII.

You might want to disconnect from the Internet before you turn off the firewall or AV software ... just for security's sake.
