I just got my first Smartphone after many many years of PDAs and dumbfones... and went for the TyTn because I like a keyboard and because I am locked into a corporate environment with Outlook 2003 on XP sp 2 that I cannot change at all. They provide Activesync but after that you are entirely on your own...
I try to synch the gleaming new baby and I get the dreaded "0x85010014" error. The only thing that synchs are the notes.
I have repaired Outlook, deleted the relationship on both sides. No change.
All the stuff I surfed up about this is at least a year old, suggesting that this problem has somehow been resolved in the meantime... what am I missing?
I am USB connected to an Outlook client on a corporate PC. I asked about getting synching to the server or even OTA and they were no prepared to allow it (I work for a bank - IT are very security conscious)
Hmmm. Then I'd suspect a personal firewall or driver installation issue on the PC. You may also require administrator rights or special permissions on the machine to build the partnership correctly.
I'd try to delete the partnership and recreate it and see what happens. The fact that notes synched is very odd, so something's astray.
The PC is running Windows XP, correct? If it's Vista, ActiveSync won't do - you need Windows Mobile Device Center.
Indeed, it's XP, sp2... I hope to heaven I don't need special admin rights. I work for a bank and you need to have permission from a major deity to be able to install anything that is not in your defined profile.
That could be your issue right there. There's about a 99.9% chance that you need to install the driver for the phone to get it to work properly. You might ask one of your admins if they can log in on the machine, connect the device, and make sure the driver installs correctly.
It does. ActiveSync just finds the correct driver based on the device it detects. But there is still a driver to install, which may require Admin access.
I have tried this out on a new corp PC and I see a driver installing successfully for "Windows Mobile based device", also my notes synch just fine. It really looks like there is some attribute of Outlook that is jinxing this, but I dont understand why Intellisync still works against the same Outlook...
There should be synchronization logs stored for your attempts to connect that might be useful. It shows up under full folder view for Outlook as "Sync Issues." The messages from the desktop side might provide more insight for you.
