First day with the TILT

I tried getting my TILT synched up to my laptop, and I keep getting an error that says the following:

Active Sync encountered a problem on the desktop.

Support Code: 85010014

It doesn't seem to want to download my contacts out of Outlook or anything else as a result.

Appreciate the feedback, this is my first PDA/PPC, so expect alot of really dumb questions. . .

Thanks folks,
Sean

Need more info.

What OS is your computer running?

What are you trying to sync to - Outlook or something else (and what version)?

If it's Outlook, have you scanned your PST file for corruption (look on your disk for scanpst.exe, run it, and point it to your outlook data file)?

What version of WMDC/Activesync have you installed?

Have you poked holes in your personal firewall for the apps required?

When was the last time you patched Outlook? Run Windows Update to make sure that's done properly.

There's a whole lot of reasons a sync can fail. Any of the above could be the reason, so there's more information required.

PerfAlbion,

Thanks for the assistance, strangely, I did a factory reset on the TILT, and then restarted the laptop and suddenly it synced up without any further issue. . . one of those phantom faults I suppose. But so far it seems to be working well.

Thanks for the response.

Sean

It sounds like the drivers for the device didn't automatically install correctly the first time you connected it, and they did the second. That can happen as well.

Oops, started a seperate thread about this, before I read this one. I have the same problem, but worse. At home I synch just fine on my Vista laptop but at work (which is a corporate locked-down XP sp2 PC) I get the 85010014 and only notes will synch. It is Outlook 2003 and it worked just fine with my old ipaq and even my older Palm Tungsten... I did a detect and repair on Outlook, deleted the relationships etc. but I am still getting the error. Any thoughts?
