One-handed password entry?

Hi All,

I just upgraded from my very-out-of-date 6700 to the 8525, what a difference two years make! Vey nice, and it fixes all of the problems with the 6600.

I'm just getting started with it, but my first question is the password-entry screen to unlock the phone whenever I turn it on. Under the System --> setting, I've chosen "Password type" of "Simple PIN" and entered a numeric password. But when I turn the phone on, I have to use the full text keypad (either stylus entry or opening the keyboard) to enter my password.

Is there any way for the phone to show a numeric 10-digit keypad on the front so I can unlock it with one hand without opening the keyboard?

I'll also be installing the Good software from our corporate IT in the next day or so. On my old phone it took over the password protection screen, and I'm assuming it will do the same thing here. Will I have the same problem? Having to pull out the stylus every time I try to use the phone drives me crazy.

Thanks!

Hey Crandaddy- good choice on the switch. And I've gotta say that the 8525 flys on 3g in (most of) Boston- hope you're enjoying it!

As for your problem... I don't know of anywhere in the registry or any third party tweaks that can change the default Numeric/Keyboard option...

You could always just assign a few letters to be a password... that makes it just as secure, but saves time.

And yeah, I imagine that the Corp IT software will do change it anyway.

Install the phonepad from xda-devs, and set it as your default phone pad. You'll be able to do what you want I believe - I don't use a pin so can only assume it pops up when you are prompted for your pin.

Unofficial Touch PhonePad (+VGA) and vibrate dialpad - xda-developers
