Email reading alignment problems

OK...new device. I just got my 8500 and spent some time customizing it...but now I seem to have done something to it I can't un-do!

When I read my email, I have to scroll up to actually get to the beginning of the message.

I get the email, I tap on the notification and select "view".
When the email message comes up, the screen shows the middle of the message. Sometimes if the message is only a few lines, the message looks blank unless I scroll up to see the actual message!
This happens in Text as well as email.

Anybody have an idea what I screwed up to make this happen and what I need to do to fix this? It's really annoying!

Thanks
Ed

Welcome to the boards!

Ok, this is a new one to me- what have you tinkered with so far?

That's just it...I don't really know

I tinkered around with stuff in the windows directory...found some executables and tried them to see what they would do. I particularly enjoyed the program HTCustom.
This program let me "tweak" some settings...but I didn't like the new settings so I set them back...
Now, I don't know for sure that this app has anything to do with my scrolling problem in the email...but I first noticed it sometime after messing with it.
Does this help any?
Thanks
Ed

This is a completely new one to me...
I've explored the windows directory, registry settings, etc. pretty extensively and cannot imagine where this might be stored.

Does the problem persists after soft-resets?

I know it's not a fun answer, but if it's that big a deal then the best way to fix it is to reflash to a new ROM...

You enabled d-pad page scrolling with HTCustom. This will cause the issue you describe. Undo that setting and it will fix your issue.

Thanks a ton!

Well, URPREY is correct.
In the HTCustom program under the IE tab, there is a check box that allows you to set if you want to use the d-pad to scroll through the webpage instead of jumping from link to link on that page. Unchecking this box solves my problem...While not a major issue, it was more like being at a picnic and having flys buzzing around you...an annoyance if you will.
Now...why does a change that targets IE, cause the email viewer to screw up, and why in such a fashion?
This is one for the books I guess.
Again, thanks for this...I would have slowly lost my mind....

Oh good call Urprey!
Damn, now that you say it I actually came across this before and couldn't figure it out, but only encountered it a few times just before reflashing my device to a different build, so I completely forgot about it.
