I've got it installed, and overall I'd say it's a positive move. Some people don't like the new startup sound or animation, and reloading your phone is never "fun", but overall, it's added some features and it feels a little faster... if only a little.

For those who are already asking, "Is this WM6???" Negative. Word is this is a simplier update to make sure some things are patched or functional before we go to WM6.

The only drawback I've found is I can't seem to use WMP with my storage card. It's like it's ignoring it, even though everything else is working fine... such as iGuidance installed on my storage card, and the music DOES play when I select it through File Explorer. I just can't seem to point WMP to the Storage Card or add those songs to the library like before.

Figured out getting WMP to work with my storage card again. There is a folder created on the storage card called MSMETADATA. Deleted that, and now I'm back in business. What's more, I'm using WMP to transfer the songs to the 8525, so I hope to be able to use playlists now.

The startup animation with it's sound can be disabled by using your favorite registry navigation tool and either search for the term "animation" or drill down to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\StartupAnimation\
Then, edit the "Enabled" setting to be "0" (decimal) rather than "1".

No more loud noise to give away your location during a covert reboot!

Good tip on the changing the startup animation sound. It was driving me nuts. I thought "Volume" could be adjusted on registry as I don't mind the animation and a very suttle sound, but the tweak did not work so I settled with the "Enabled' set to decimal 0. The change does make the whole startup AT&T 3G animation go away.
