Sony Car Stereo MEX-BT2500 works GREAT with 8525!

Greetings all. Sometimes it's hard to post in this forum, what with ALL the folks that post in the 6700 forum, but here's some GOOD news for 8525 owners!!!

When my 2000 Civic's stock car deck started having trouble with the volume controls not working, I started looking at replacements. While not sure what I was looking for, I knew that there were a LOT of options between $100 - $400.

Looking at Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, and other models, I found a few that mentioned Bluetooth and iPod compatibility. Wanting both if possible, I found the MEX-BT5000 to be a neat solution. But between the deck, the iPod adaptor sold seperately, and finding someplace local to have it installed... I decided to wait.

Then I read about the Sony MEX-BT2500. Similar features to 5000, but only $200 or so retail. Was supposed to ship in March, so I kept my eyes open. (Truth is, it shipped late March or early April. I forgot about it until my volume control started acting up again.)

So yesterday morning I found Circuit City had it for $189 with free installation. I wanted the iPod adaptor for the deck, but that only works with the old unit. Instead, there is a front mounted aux port, so any audio device can play through the car audio.

"So what's the big deal? It's just a CD deck!!!" I can hear you all chant... but if your've made it this far, then THIS is the big deal. This deck:

1) Allows you to make and take phone calls from your bluetooth phone. The Cingular 8525 is supported with this, so you can leave you phone in a holster, pouch, etc... and still talk to callers with NO headset!!! I tried it last night, and my Dad said I sounded great. No wires, no forgetting to charge or wear a headset, just click a button and go!

2) You can play music from your 8525 through the car stereo!!! Say you've got a 2GB memory card, and your listening to your favorite audio book on your Pocket PC. Or maybe you have a soundtrack you enjoy on your 8525. Rock, Pop, Country, Rap, it makes NO difference. If your 8525 can play it, the BT2500 can make it sound great in the car!

Overall, this is working super and I'd recommend it to anyone! Get one yourself if you need a new car deck!!! (Only negative was a few extra installation fees, etc. Was about $260 installed with parts and taxes.) But for the functionality, it's super!!!
