POP3 and Sprint Relay setup

I have my e-mail setup on my 6700 with my Internet providers POP3 incoming server and Sprint's smtp.sprintpcs.com as a relay server. This was, and is, working well on the 6700.

I setup my HTC Touch the same way, but it I can't get it to work. I changed the unsername and password for the phone's newline Power Vision, and the phone reprovisioned. I still cant get SEND e-mail to work.

For username on the HTC Touch, I have tired "username" "username + sprintpcs.com" and "username@sprintpcs.com" None of these have worked.

Can anyone help me here?

I have a similar problem. I get the send to work and it puts the E-mail in the sent folder but the E-mail never gets delivered. BTW the user is just the name no "@"sprintpcs.com. I hope that help see if you can get the E-mail to actaully send and deliver.

On my Treo I could use a different smtp with sep login without any issues. That option does not work anymore and I'm told that I have to use smtp.sprintpcs.com. One other thing using my smtp as described above did work on an 6700.

I still do not have this working; it is still working on my 6700.

I reset my pcs username and password which initiated a new provisioning of my Touch; but still cannot get e-mail to send through smtp.sprintpcs.com.

When you say that it does not send E-mail...

Are you getting it to look like it is sending and going to the sent box or are you getting an error at the send time?

Like I sad above I do get it to transfer to my sent folder and appear to have the E-mail actually get sent but it never gets delivered.

It goes to outbox and tries to send. Some error message like: The message(s) could not be sent. Check thta you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again. Message stays in Outbox.

That was the error I was getting when I tried to use an SMTP from a different provider than my POP3; both were my providers just two different ISP's.

I was able to get the smtp.sprintpcs.com to work and send the E-mail but it never gets delivered.

Ensure the user is the same one you see on sprint.com and do not append the "@sprintpcs.com" to end of the user name. Obviously the password needs to be ok. Did you try to send a test E-mail from sprint.com and your account? I did that first to ensure I was setup but even on that the e-mail went to sent but not delivered. I did check spam control on my ISP's site and it is deactivated.

Please let me know if you can get the E-mail to move from outbox to sent and if it s delivered.

BTW; are you currently getting the failure and the E-mail gets moved to drafts and you get a notification in your inbox from system adminsrator. That is what happened when I used my own ISP's SMTP.

No, it only moved to DRAFTS folder once. Currently it just sits in OUTBOX.

I assume you mean to log into the springt web site to see if send is working. I use a username/password pair to get into Sprint and a different username/password pair to get into Sprint PCS servcies.

This is still working just find on my 6700 w/o any changes.

I was able to send e-mail from Sprint PCS to another account while logged on to the Spring site with my laptop. It did send and it was received.

Yet I still can not send from the smpt.sprintpcs.com with this account on the Touch.

Update:

the message header above may have been rejected as SPAM. I created a longer "test" messgae from the Sprint website on my laptop; it was send and received on both my latop and my Touch.

I actually work at a Sprint Call Center and I just ran into this same issue with one of my customers. I ran across this forum when checking to see if this is a known issue for the Touch. I was able to resolve my customer's issue by deleting the email account and remaking it making sure that the ISP was "Internet e-mail" for POP3 account, and making sure all the entered information was correct to the T. We were able to get it working with no problem. I hope this helps out with you guy's issues as well.
