Connecting HTC XV6900 to PC via dial up modem

Hey all, I have a HTC XV6900 (Verizon) but I don't have the data plan.
I have setup an incoming connection (via modem dial up) on a Windows XP and enabled Internet Connection Sharing.
I also setup a modem connection on the phone and dial the number to the
XP box. It seems to connected but nothing transmitted to the phone and IE doesn't go anywhere
Just wondering if anyone had tried before.
Help is much appreciated.

I'm a bit confused. Are you looking to have your phone go out to the Internet via the PC connection? If so, that's built in to Activesync. What you've described is a way to have your PC get to the Internet using the phone, but without a data plan there's no Internet to go to. The connection might establish, but the phone doesn't have anywhere to send the packets the PC is transmitting.

So what is it you're looking to do - have the PC connect to the Internet via the phone? If so, you need a data plan. Or have the phone get to the Internet via the PC? If so, you've already got that in AS.

I don't have a data plan. I have no problem to connect via USB and BT. And I know how to use the PAM while connecting with a Laptop when I am not at home or work.
The question is if it's possible to connect the phone directly to my home or work computer via modem dial up with ICS. So that the phone is able to browse Internet and check weather...

And that was my point - ICS is not for the phone to browse via the computer, it's for the computer to hit the Internet using the phone. So if you're mobile with your laptop, don't have a hotspot available for Wifi, and want to surf, you fire up ICS and off you go.

ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center already provide pass-through for the phone to go through the computer to the Internet. All you need to do is connect via USB or BT and of it should go. If that isn't working, you need to check firewall settings, etc.

But if you're firing up ICS, it's not going to work. You need an active AS connection on the phone.
