I Am Getting Sprint's 6900 Today.....

I know I'm am a little late discovering this phone.
I have been a WM user for 9 years so I'm very familir with it
AND its quirks! I am currently using a Moto Q, which I think is the best thing since moonshine, but I dearly miss my Dell Axim that was stolen, and I think think the Touch will pacify me. Questions:
1. Is there any reason I shouldn't get this phone?
2. Should I be looking for anything in particular when purchasing it? For instance is there a 1st or 2nd generation edition, or something of that nature?
Thanks for your help!

I was going to say....one reason to not buy it is because the Diamond is out. But since you bought it already, enjoy it. Lots of free programs and mods available, mostly on ppc geeks and xda developers.

When my 6700 died, I went to the Sprint store with the intention of getting a Diamond since I'm due for the upgrade discount... but they swapped me out for a Touch for free. I like it so much, that I decided to save the money and stick with this one. I like the form factor on the Touch better than the newer phones too.

Take a look at this web site
Pocket PC Haven • View new posts

It has several mods and tweaks for the touch.

My touch screen looks just like the TouchPro due to the M2d mod. Plus you can unlock the GPS to work within LiveSearch or Google Maps in addition to the other tweaks.

enjoy

Good choice - if you use BT and push e-mail the Touch will last on battery about 3 times the amount of the Diamond - what a sad joke (excellent job of beta testing by Sprint and HTC (not) ). I returned the Diamond after trying just about every trick there was and firmware mod to improve battery life and went back to my 2 year old touch. I managed to mod it for 2 and a half months as I informed Sprint that it sucked and they made note of it in my file so I could return it if it did not improve. I miss the better screen on the Diamond but that is about it. The Touch is a much better buy (and slimmer). Hopefully the replacement for the Diamond will have the Touch HD screen (I saw it at CES - MAN was it nice compared to the Diamond).

I have both the 6900 and the diamond. I've had the diamond since Feb 09 and while it has features that the diamond doesn't I prefer the diamond most of the time. I like the screen and the feel better. The voice quality heard by the party on the other end is reported to be tinny on my 6900 so I am going to replace it. I had the diamond first and had another line eligible for a full upgrade, the 6900 was free. If only the 6900 had wifi.
