GPS Problem

Been doing ok with my new Verizon xv6900 except for the bluetooth connection to an external GPS.

I am running Odyssey mapping (by Infogation) and connecting to my "old" Earthmate Bluetooth Powerpack. I had everything working ok and then a couple days later Odyssey wouldn't connect. I went thru various threads on this site to get advice on settings etc, then deleted the powerpack from the Bluetooth list, and paired it again with the 6900 with some setting changes (most of which are just now back to the default).

So then it started working again. Used it periodically last week without a hiccup. Today, no deal. All settings were the same as when it was working. I paired it again with the phone, and that goes very smooth as always, but the mapping program does not connect.

Nothing was changed on the phone, except I did use my bluetooth headset a couple times.

My plan has been to invest in a better mapping program and GPS device if I could get everything working ok. So far, not so good. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well, I guess I am stuck with a mystery. A different GPS device and different mapping program might work but I wouldn't be using this feature enough to throw money at research.

Update

I have it working again. Here is what I know. It has stopped connecting to the device twice now from the mapping program. On both occasions, I have got it working just fine again by going in and changing the port. I first had it set to Port 8, then Port 0, and now Port 4. I have no clue as to why it suddenly can't use the designated port. Maybe another bluetooth device takes over that port??
