Smile Slow response gone

After updating ROM to 6.1 leaked, I have been experiencing the famous slow response/thinking wheel that a lot of people have been talking about. The other day playing around with Pocket Express settings, I noticed the auto update setting set to 5 hours. Immediately came to mind, this could be running in the background causing the slowdown. So I changed the setting to manual and to my surprise, not only the phone is much quicker, no more slow response.

I am going to run this way for a few more days and see if this is what the real cause was. Just thought to post this and see if others have experienced this.

I have the HTC/Sprint 6.1 ROM, and it was set to manual out of the box. I have never experienced "the famous slow response/thinking wheel" that you describe

If you install the update, and never click on Pocket Express, it will never do the update since you first have to enter your zip code and accept some license agreement to actually get the program started.

I think what most people mean with the sluggishness, at least for me, is the problem I am having sometimes when the keyboard responds very sluggish to my typing input. That is annoying and makes the phone feel like it was doing a million things at the same time in the background. I really wish there was a fix for that.

The sluggishness is what I was talking about, for me it feels like the whole touch screen is very slow to respond. Also sometime the thinking wheel comes on for no reason and everything loads slow.

But after the Pocket Express change, I don't see that anymore (so far).

You guys are WAY more patient than I am. I f'n hate this phone. Every time you click something, press a button, etc... there is a 1sec delay. When using the phone for business, and you're hammering on it all day, email, sorting through 700 contacts, etc... it gets VERY annoying. That 1sec delay is so frustrating. Unless I am just that much quicker than technology LOL!

But yes, I also do see a random time when it just becomes unusable. I opened the Task Manager and saw 3 different applications named Phone in there that were locked up. I couldn't close them. I did a soft reset and magically the Phone apps were gone from the list. I'm thinking this phone just builds up a bunch of background garbage as you run it more and more... and you just need to do a soft reset every day... pretty depressing.

2 comments/observations:

1.) The behavior you guys are describing became much more prevalent with the 6.1 upgrade ROM. Particularly the issues with buttons not responding and screen lockups/slowness. Unless you really want threaded SMS and/or GPS, RevA. I would stick with the original ROM.

2.) Always consider any 3rd party apps in your troubleshooting process. Problems often don't exist in factory default mode, that appear after you've installed 3rd party apps. Whenever I get a new phone, I do not run any 3rd party apps or hacks for at least 2-3 days. I then add them very slowly to help isolate the

It just did it again. I'm going to remove as much junk as I can and see how it does. It's REALLY pissing me off now! I'll be in the middle of making an appointment with a customer and.. UH OH! Phone not responding.
