A device attached to the system is not functioning...
If I try to copy a file from my memory card(8GB SDHC) to my PC using ActiveSync or SOTI Pocket Commander I get the following message:
Cannot convert file "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
I can copy the file back and forth between my phone's built-in memory and memory card just fine using Resco Explorer, and I can copy the file from my phone's built-in memory to my computer using ActiveSync or SOTI without any error. The only problem seems to be with copying to my computer from my memory card, though I do remember intermittent problems trying to download directly to the memory card over a data session.
I've done all the scenarios you've outlined above and haven't run into any issues, unless I'm trying to transfer an extremely large file using the combination of SOTI over bluetooth.
So... Are you using bluetooth? How big is the file you're attempting to transfer? Either of those could affect the outcome possibly?
I'm using the USB connection. It used to work fine. It happens with any file on the storage card, large or small. Today I reformatted the storage card in my USB card reader, copied all my data back, and I'm still having the problem. Maybe the card reader in my phone is messed up somehow, but it doesn't make sense that the problem only happens with ActiveSync transfers or SOTI. I can move files back and forth within the phone using Resco all I want without errors.
Also, I just tried using Card Export II, and it doesn't work either. It changes the phone into card reader mode just fine, but if I try to copy anything to or from the card it craps out and locks up the phone.
How close are you to a Sprint store? Maybe you can stick that card in another Touch & see if you have the same problem.
Also, did it ever work? or has it always been an issue? A hard reset test might be worth a shot. If you have too much too lose going that route, I would do a backup using SKTools. I've done successful back and restores with that program.
I haven't tried the latest release of Card Export yet, but all the other scenarios you described work fine with my 4GB SDHC card.
I wish it were that...I shutdown Windows Firewall and it still doesn't work. I did some more testing and it seems to have something to do with the size of the files I am trying to copy. I am able to copy anything 60KB and under to the PC from the storage card just fine, but anything 75KB and above doesn't work...right now I'm testing to see exactly what the threshold is.
