Is there a free app (besides Google Maps) that can show my GPS location?

Is there a free and relatively simple app I can deploy and run on my HTC Touch Pro that can just show my GPS coordinates and nothing else? GPS doesn't work for me in Google Maps, so I want to determine whether my GPS is working at all.

Bing for mobile

Bing used to be Windows Live. It's kind of cool because it has voice recognition to find places. It's a lot like Googlemaps though. But if GM isn't working, I'm guessing your GPS isn't unlocked. You might want to flash a rom that doesn't have GPS disabled first...

If it works for you, I very much prefer Bing to Google anyway. I would guess that if one doesnt work, neither will the other as stated above.

Get a copy of GPSTest by Chartcross. It does nothing but fire up the GPS and display info on satellites and coordinates. And it's free.

If you get GPS working, try AmazGPS

If you ever get it working, try amazgps. It's free (I don't know why/how) and works nice on my Pro.

It's the only freebie I know of that has voice navigation.

Take a look at GPSTODAY

Check out GPS Today. It comes in two versions. One is a plug-in for your Today screen and the other is a standalone app. Both versions are free, and both give you more that just your gps co-ordinates, but that's a good thing!

Oh, never mind. I should learn. "GPS Capable" just means another way to get money out of me with no added value.

You can unlock the GPS for free. And having a phone that can be used as a GPS unit adds value as far as I'm concerned

I love my built in gps - in fact it is all i use. You just need to get it working and like all other things - you need to take the time to be smarter than your smartphone.

I assume that "unlocking" the phone means installing a custom rom? Assuming that's true, I'm somewhat interested, but I'm concerned about the risks. People who've done this successfully probably think there aren't any risks, but I would assume that there are real risks, either technical or bureaucratic, that I'll need to be aware of.

No need to flash just for GPS - search for "bored gps fix" - or look for the free unlocker that verizon put out.

Personally, I think that the Verizon version is a POS w/ the preinstalled rom and without a custom i would have sold this phone by now. VZ loaded it with crap and made it look ugly - as far as the theme goes. A custom rom would not only get you GPS, but would also give you a brand new phone to play with. I say go for it - just follow instructions and you will have no issues that you cannot get past.
