Former 6700 owners: Internet functionality question

The PPC-6700 has been my second phone that I only use for internet purposes to stream videos, music, surf web sites, slingbox, etc. I have never replaced it since it has done the job well & I didn't need a reason to upgrade. I did notice on phonescoop that the newer phones handle the 1xEV-DO rA internet speeds vs. the slower 1xEV-DO r0 speeds on the 6700. My main question to all the former PPC-6700 owners who upgraded to a Touch Pro or a Diamond Touch on this board is the following:

Have you noticed any speed difference whatsoever for Internet ONLY usage as desribed above? Also, the old 6700 has an antenna which has been very good at catching signals in remote places. Is the internal antenna on the newer HTC models as good at catching a signal as the external one on the 6700?

TIA,

Z

internal antennas are no match for protruding or external ones... so i would wager the 670x picks up fringe signals better.

REV A has faster throughput but this all depends on geographical location, how many handsets are using the tower you are using, building construction, etc etc...

are you asking for a reason to upgrade? if your thinking to upgrade to a newer device just to stream then i would not spend the money on a new device.. perhaps second hand would be more economical...

I agree - I never had the 6700, but I had the i730 and I still believe that the external antenna makes a difference. But after swithcing to internal only antennae 2 phones ago, I will also say that there doesnt seem to be anywhere in my area where I used to have signal that I now have none. It seems to be more of a number of bars type of thing, a matter of degree.

I do think that revA makes a noticeable speed difference that I can see. The question is am I just perceiving a speed difference because my revA device has a faster Processor and more ram?

For the functions you mention above, seemingly mostly media-based, I would say the most compelling reason to change would be the better screen and vga resolution - this is a HUGE step from qvga as far as I am concerned. When I owned a 730 and even a Mogul, I always thought qvga was enough, but now having used VGA I would never want to go back to that pixelated view of my mobile world.

I would look at the 6700 forums on here ( as I am sure you have) and you will see that there is a HUGE list of reasons to upgrade, but signal strength would not be one of them, RevA definitely is.
