My experience with the new Verizon ROM
* gmail and live search are sometimes very slow to get a gps lock, even with Quick GPS. VZNav gets a lock very quickly, and once that is done, then gmail and live search are quick for the rest of the day.
* The delayed ring problem might be about a half ring faster. Maybe not. Just tried it again, and it was a full three rings before the phone was answerable. This issue alone makes me want to go back to Samsung for my phones. From what I understand, nearly all HTC phones have this problem and they seem to have no interest in fixing it.
* Lots of new bugs
* Per user ring tones often stop working at random for no apparant reason
* Pocket e-sword thinks it's running on a QVGA device now and is unusable
* Sprite Backup thinks it's in QVGA when drawing the options icons, but
this just makes them small, not unusable.
* Sprite backup always reports a couple of system files aren't backed up.
* Pocket Plus draws garbage under the top menu items on the close
button menu
* The drop down menu for selecting Button actions in settings doesn't
drop down. You have to use up/down arrow to cycle through the
choices.
* Brightness level frequently gets stuck at full bright. When this happens
and I go to the Power Settings both on battery and on power settings
are turned all the way down. Returning on power setting to it's normal
value clears the problem.
This is just what I've noticed over 4 days of using it. I exect to find more as there are programs I haven't even touched yet. I'd stay away from it
unless you really really need the GPS and Visual Voicemail features.
