Verizon is alleged to be unlocking gps

Verizon unlocks Touch Pro's GPS | WMExperts

A ROM is floating around that is alleged to be an official update that unlocks GPS and adds visual voice mail. I can find no evidence that it is real, however. I've never heard of this phonenews site that has posted it for download. So, I'll believe it's real when I can get it from verizon or htc. Until then, I'll continue to believe the whole Verizon is unlocking gps thing is a hoax.

Does it tackle any of the slowness or crapware issues with the stock rom, or just unlock GPS, enable vvm and update the network as listed elsewhere? If not I am sticking with my cooked rom.

A ton of ROM at PPCGeeks, and other sites. Including the VZW update.

Can't believe Verizon crippled the GPS in the first place. Does the new rom let you make phone calls now, or is that crippled too?

Verizon crippling things is nothing new. It never ceases to amaze me that they think they know how I should be using the phones they sell better than I do.

Anyone know if they are doing the same for the Diamond? I am ready for a new phone end of this month, and I am torn between the Pro and the Diamond (currently using the XV6900 with a custom ROM, which I love, but I want the higher res screen and accelerometer).
