Touch Pro Dead

My TP has been turning itself off every few hours or so for the past few days, and last night after charging it i cant get it to turn on this morning. It was on when i pulled it off charge, got in the shower, and now it's dead. I have two batteries that I believe are fully charged yet the phone will not get past the PIN screen, if it gets that far.

What I've been able to do to get it to turn on is remove the battery, replace the battery in its compartment and then press the power button. I'll usually get the Touch Pro name to come up and the ROM information before the phone turns off again. Sometimes I'll get as far as the PIN screen (meaning WM has fully booted) but if i either type in a PIN or just let it sit there, after a few seconds it will turn off again. I cant place it on a charge and see the center button light up like it normally would, so I'm guessing this is a power supply/hardware issue.

I dont think i'll be able to visit a sprint store today, but that will be my next move unless anyone here can help me figure out how to fix it on my own.

thanks

i say hard reset.

but let me ask this.. have you installed or removed any programs recently? did you you drop the phone? is it a refurb'ed phone or are the original owner of it?

worse case just hard reset. if it still acts up right after the hard reset.. its time for replacement...

first thing i attempted to do was a hard reset. unfortunately, according to multiple sites, you need to have the device powered on to perform a hard reset (because you hold the up volume and middle button and then soft reset with the reset pin.

I found what the problem was though - a battery pin was damaged and was not making contact with the battery. this issue is related to when i first got the phone and a sprint rep put the battery in upside down, crushing the pins. I had a feeling something like this would happen eventually, but i didnt expect the irregular reboots and quick powering off after a successful electrical connection. I was able to take my leatherman and pull the pin out enough to get a successful connection. so far i havent had it turn off on me.

It has to be your battery.
