Is there a way to disable having an audible alert when sending a text message? In Settings/Sounds and Notifications, I only find a way to customize the sound or alert upon receipt of new text message, not sending.
its a reg edit. you will lose the bubble popup aqs well and the sound goes away. its a system sound, much like the system beep on pc's. removing the sound will remove the oem "system sound".
there is a thread on this pro forum describing how to do it.
and I believe Phonealarm can turn the notices off too..

You don't need to reg edit anything, or install any useless bloatware.
Open up a new message as if you are going to send one to someone, hit menu in the lower right corner, then Message Options, then untick "request message delivery notification"
Keep in mind that you have the Verizon version which is different from the Sprint (and in my case Bell) versions so there are going to be some other minor differences than the memory ones that everyone yacks on about.

I have the Sprint Touch Pro and mine is stock as well.
My i760 had that option on Verzion, my fathers PPC's, which is more than I've had, have all had that option.
We're talking 10+ different phone models over the last 10 years. It's a default WM option.
If it's not in the first place i described it, then it's in Text message inbox, Select Menu, tools, then options. Accounts tab and then press on text message account in the list, uncheck the box labeled “Request delivery notifications.”
I think the problem is that you're actually talking about two different things. One is the sound alert that the SMS has been sent (the original post). The other is a request/notification that it's been received. The latter is an option I haven't seen a WM phone disable (probably because there may be a charge for the notification). The former is something that some carriers have hidden because they think that we really, really want to know that the message we just sent was actually sent every single bloody time we send one.
So I think you're actually discussing two different features that sound a great deal alike and both happen to be right.
