Manila 2

I was skeptical about Manila 2 at first, not about it being better or not, but more so about it being worth a hard reset for such little improvements. Boy was I wrong. Manila 2 is a dream and so damn smooth it's amazing. The extra features are nice and I'm loving the facebook synchronization. Landscape mode is tons better. The on-screen keyboard is easier to use. The calendar tab is a perfect addition. The push web pages are much quicker.

If you haven't already made the plunge, I recommend it.

I would hold off on TF3D2 for now. I was running it on the Copper ROM (Mighty and Juicy 6.5) and it was a little buggy, although in all honesty I blame the ROM a little bit lol.

MightyMike over at PPC Geeks is working on a 6.5 ROM, I would wait for that. Its my experience that MightyROM is one of the better ROMs for the VZW Touch Pro (although you have to shrink the PP).

Don't mess with a rom, just download the manila 2 cabs and put it over your current rom. If you do get a rom Juicy's is the best. It's odd that copper wouldn't be great, I mean it is first version, but they should just build off of Juicy's rom that's already there. Maybe Mighty messed some things up. Don't know why Juicy teamed up with him, he already had a great thing going.

Indie,

did you restore any apps from a backup after the hard reset? I tried loading manilla 2 on my phone without a hard reset and while it was pretty sweet, I felt that it was actually slower, but again, I didnt hard reset. It is sweet to use though. I really liked the weather layout and the stock tab.

are you able to use the weather database customizer with manilla 2?

Looks nice but is slow and not at all usable for day to day yet.

Have tried it both in a rom and as cabs and it is still very buggy.

Can't wait til it's ready for the mainstream - just not there yet

What? My Manila 2 is quite noticeably faster than TF3D EVER was, even after the plethora of reg edits I gave it.

unfortunately that was not my experience either. I noticed that it was faster after taking 10 seconds to begin responding, and each tab took a while to initially display. It could be that I didnt hard reset beforehand.

Is it buggy at all for you Indie? Can you do everything you could before? How about custom cities in the weather database?

I cannot do custom cities, but I have heard of it being done. I'm not sure if the same US cities package can be installed, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same.
