Let's hope it's not as memory hogging as the desktop version. That's not as easily affordable on a mobile platform lol.

I have always found Firefox to eat a lot less memory than IE and render way faster, especially with a few simple tweaks that can be easily made. But on to Fennec. From what I have read, there is a standardized test (whose name is escaping me now) that is used by a third party to score browsers and even in the beta stage, this bad boy blew all of them (skyfire, opera,PIE, Safari, etc) out of the water. But lets see how it fairs in our hands. I am definitely excited about this one - I just hope it will work with my Redfly, as Skyfire and the very newest Opera Mobile do not. Make sure to reply on this thread if anybody sees it out in the wild.

Mine uses about 300mb on average, but I'm on XP and got 2gb of ram. Firefox and outlook are usually the only two things i have running so not a prob for me. As far as Fennec, I don't really care if it takes up ram as long as its fast. I have never seen my TP with less than 90-100 MB free, But, still better to have a lot not used than not have enough. I personally can't wait until this drops.

Holy crap, if this thing is decent surfing-wise and puts my add-ons on my TP, this is a winner. I love my Foxmarks. I guess it is odd that I have been following this story for a while now and have yet to try the emulator. I will have to do that sometime soon, like maybe today.

I think I am in the minority here tho - I am much more interested in a fast browser than one that can render embedded video. If I want to watch youtube on my TP, I will use the youtube player or vtap. When I want to surf I want fast loads, good reflow, smooth zooming, and intuitive controls. So far, nothing has delivered here - Skyfire just doesnt cut it for me, I only use it for in2tv and other video sites. Otherwise I STILL find myself opening opera mini for my normal browsing. Opera Mobile, for me, just mixes the inabilities of Opera Mini and Skyfire without really picking up any functionality that either of them doesn't do better.

I hope Fennec ends up being the best of both worlds. I really want to have one browser that I use for everything and not have to choose and switch browsers based on what I want to do at the moment on the net.

Oh its fast, Im using it now. Only addon is Noscript which I dont use. also cant type apostraphies for some reason. Also keep forgetting the mouse scroller is a zoom and i have to click and drag like on the phone, but it looks good. I dont know though how im going to like the scroll left for tabs and scroll right for other stuff. It also gives you a pic preview of your open tabs, unlike opera with just the title of the page.

There is a leaked version going around, it's a huge mess though. It may work well as it is right now running it on Windows, but on my TP, it's a disaster. It's so bad, it won't even load the welcome message which is a local file installed with the program. That's really sad.

What is with mobile brwoser developers? Seriously, this is all you need to do on the address bar. On one side, put an arror going left, on the other, one going right, and that's how you switch tabs. It's not that hard to think this stuff up is it? If you have many tabs, then you hold the arrow and a list of all tabs comes out to select from. So much easier and I thought it up in 5 seconds. It's practical and would work. Now someone do it already.

It looks like it's available. Good luck you guys and gals. Wish I could give it a test, but the resolution/dpi just isn't going to work for me.

I hope this works out well (at least better than Minimo). Eventually, I would hope a QVGA version would turn up .

* @ above - that is a nice tab solution, but if you watch the video the sidebars are dragged out and then disappear which is cool enough.

Yep, looks like this is VERY early alpha. I cannot get it to render a page at all. Also, it requires almost 23 meg for install. I am not sure how much it really uses, but this is an awful lot to ask.

I would say that this one needs a significant amount of time still. I plan on shutting everything off in the background of my phone and trying it again to see of after a few minutes it will pull a page up. But for now, I hate to say it, but this alpha is pretty useless. I am not sure what they are alpha testing other than the install process since it seems that you cannot even load a simple page in the browser. At first I assumed I was having an isolated issue, but I am seeing the same thing claimed across multiple forums.

I am still hopeful for this browser, but we have a while to wait yet. I would say at this time, not even worth the DL.

I also loaded it and removed it soon after. It was slower than IE and more harder to use than Opera IMO.

Looks like it has a lot of promise, but still requires ALOT of work! Like it says, it is an ALPHA, so we can expect much problems at this point, but in time, this could be something solid.. Time will only tell !!! "Not worth downloading yet unless you want to Alpha Test it"
