Touch Pro comes to Telus! (Better than Sprint, VZW, and AT&T!)
On Nov 19 I gleefully picked up my Touch Pro from my local Telus store. The cost was $299 CAD on a 3-year contract (3 years is standard in Canada, unlike 2 in the US).
I am happy to report that the device is amazing! And, based on the reviews that I've seen, it's better than the ones put out by Sprint, VZW, and AT&T by several factors. See the photo gallery at the end of this post.
The only branding is on the reverse of the device, under the camera
No bloatware! Only one piece of Telus software is actually installed, and it's not even in use.
Proper keyboard layout with the numbers on the top, and no funky split n & m key (see gallery!)
Nothing is locked, not even the GPS. Everything is fully functional with no hacking required. Even Internet Sharing works (but is not pre-installed)
It's a wonderful showing from Telus, a Canadian CDMA provider. With my $25/mo unlimited data plan, I'm all set!
I'm looking forward to many fine years of love from this amazing phone. The screen just blows my mind! Check out the last photo to see what Remote Desktop looks like.
From what I've seen it looks like the Sprint & Telus versions are pretty much the same except for a few color differences. My Fuze definitely came loaded with bloatware, but a soft reset prior to running the customizations took care of that. The Sprint "bloatware" is actually pretty useful IMHO.
yeah the keyboards are pretty much the same between sprint and telus. save the txt and sms button are labeled differently..
as for bloatware to each his own. i use some of the stuff on there and the other program or two i dont use does not bother me... so ill let you have your opinion but everyone has one...
Yeah future reference before you label yours the winner, check out everyone elses... Don't just go off what you read it makes you seem semi-ignorant in a post. The Telus and Sprint version are nearly identical, most of what you call "Bloatware" isn't like AOL trial offers, its updates and drivers for network and carrier compatability some of it actually speeds up the phone.
AFAngry: I did actually check out the others, and I say it is "bloatware" because that's what the people who own the sprint phone call it. Besides, my claim that it is the "winner" is just for fun, we're all winners!
Anyway, I don't like unnecessary advertising and I don't find the lack of logo to be "naked", I find it "liberating".
