VZW Why!!!!
Why did u guys messed up the greatest wm pda phone in the world?
i just took a careful look at the keyboard on VZW HTC Touch pro...
then i compared it with AT&T tp and Sprint tp...
VZW DID messed up the keyboard and it's too stupid to do so...
anyone noticed that the "M" key and "N" key are separated by Up arrow?
*sigh*
personally i think the sprint touch pro has the best appearance...
why can't i have the greatest service with greatest phone?
do i have to sacrifice the appearance and functionality for service?
i've been waiting for VZW touch pro for about 4 month now, since i saw the gsm version...
i wanna cry

Not only did they mess with keyboard, they decreased the RAM from 288mb down to 192mb!
I would seriously consider giving Sprint a chance. If their coverage is decent where you are, I think you will like the service. Personally, I grew tired of Verizon always being the last to release the newest smartphones and when they finally did, the phone was crippled. Couple that with their high prices and it made the switch Sprint an easy decision for me (Sprint coverage is great in my area also!). The only place I've found where Verizon had better coverage was out in very rural areas. However, my phone will just switch to roaming in those areas now and since roaming with Sprint is free, not really an issue for me.

I have to totally agree. I have been watching the Touch Pro for VZW for quite some time, and I am disappointed. I am now going to purchase a Sprint model, but will be hacking it to load on to VZW. It's possible, but not for the faint of heart, and of course you will be on your own in terms of support for the device, but at least I will have the better keyboard and the more available RAM....

I know I got you all in support, I was speaking of the Verizon and Sprint for lack of support, but wait, do they really give us support anyway? I mean if they did, would this forum even exist?

Have you considered switching to Alltel? Their touch pro version looks like Sprints. Even though their service network is inferior they let you roam on VZW AFAIK therefore you shouldn't notice any service differences at all. Not to mention VZW is set to acquire Alltel so the hope would be to fully transition to VZW at some point in the future.
Right now I am in the same boat -- I have VZW and was waiting for the Touch Pro release. What kills me the most is the keyboard layout. AT&T got it right (with the numbers grouped together). Unfortunately their network stinks for the most part where I live and travel so that is a no go.
What do you think?

No to Alltel. I am still under contract with Verizon for the Samsung i760, and I really don't feel like renewing my contract to save about $50 in the difference between the VZW version and the Sprint version. I odered the Touch Pro last night, and it will be here tomorrow, and literally cost me just $50 more since VZW has their model priced so high.
I agree, the keyboard sucks on the VZW model. This is the second reason I went with the Sprint model, the first being the memory, and the third being the locked down GPS.
Really, it's probably going to take me an hour of work to get the Sprint model on the VZW network, and once I do that, I am going to load my own ROMs on it anyway, so why not get the device with more memory and a better keyboard and just use it.
Now if you weren't willing to obtain the software you need, and potentially brick your phone, then I wouldn't suggest the Sprint model on VZW, and just get the VZW model. Really I was still going to get it, even with the "issues" with it, but decided to give this a try.
But Alltel is a no go for me. I like the Verizon service and capabilities I currently have. I like my plan as it is, and I will be dropping insurance from my plan and save another $8 a month. That alone pays for the difference in pricing on the Touch Pro.
But I can give you more of a run down after the weekend. The Touch Pro should be here tomorrow (Friday), and I will be messing with it then, and hopefully might be able to post up good news on Friday night....

Do you anticipate any problems having Verizon activate the phone - I tried recently to activate a Sprint Q9c and the Verizon system wouldn't accept the ESN ...

First, Hi MR. long time no see. ... How much did you pay for the Phone (i'm assuming you didn't activate it on the sprint network).
I'm getting a phone of my choice since i've had so many issues (VZW changing the wrong phone plan and costing several hours of work to fix).
So, it's a tossup for me between the (VZW) Touch pro and the Samsung Omnia.
i see the VZW Touch Pro has the 528Mhz, and 196mb RAM, and 16GB MicroSd Available. Shouldn't that memory be ok?

Some one talk me out of dumping Verizon!!! Just went to a Sprint store today and saw the Touch Pro and the Diamond. They both look great and the plans and features are more competitive than Verizon. It's the service coverage that I'm worried about. Specifically, upper Westchester, NY & Greenwich Ct., area. Any advice?
The salesman suggested that I sign up for a cheap phone, try it and see how it goes. I'm real tempted to do that.
Then would need to pick the Pro or the Diamond. The Diamond's much slimmer, but no keyboard! (Do I really need a keyboard?)
So, that's my dilema. Can anyone talk me out of Verizon?
