keyboards acting like T9 with suggested words

HELP! I have apparently changed some setting. When I try to type with the slide out keyboard, or even use the on-screen keyboard, I get a little bar across the bottom of the screen anticipating what words I want to use. Unfortunately, I'm trying to type a very unusual name that the suggestions don't include. How do I turn this feature off?

look at the bottom left side, there is a button that has "ABC->T9" its probably toggled on T9... press the button to take it back to ABC....

Actually, I found that on the physical keyboard I had hit Fn/SpaceBar which turns on some T9 options; and allowed me then to turn them back off. On the virtual keyboard, I suspect you are right.

Is there a way to get the other word completion (like what was on the 6700) to work? It's in the settings, but enabling it seems to do no good.

Interesting. I hadn't noticed until I read your post but my word completion feature also isn't working even though I've selected it.

Yeah, I've never had experience with the T9 and I'm trying to get used to it. Often it seems faster, but as you pointed out it can be annoying in some situations. The other word completion may not be as fast, but is nicer to just leave on, as it doesn't change what your typing.

oh yeah, i hate when t9 stays on when switching to keyboard. definitely a bug. There is a pattern though. I think if you start typing before the screen rotates it will stick in t9 until you change it, but im not sure.

I don't think my word completion EVER worked. I tried to disable all of the settings and the reenabled them, but nothing. My next step is a hard reset, but I'd rather not.

OK, here's what I have so far. I was in a message and accidentally hit "Fn" [SPACE] and got a quick menu. I selected "T9 English" and the word completion reactivated. However, whenever I swich Text Messages (ie - from Sue to Bill) or Applications, it resets.

There must be a way to default that somehow. I haven't fingered it out yet. Let me know if someone does.

PS - I love you.

Since it's right there on the KB, it is pretty easy to turn it on and off. I guess the longer it's used without a hard reset, the less it will be a nuisance, as it learns all the weird words I want to type.
