And the WINNER Is: Sprint's Touch PRO vs. AT&T's FUZE vs. Verizon's XV6850
LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEE
Now that we are getting the specs & releases for each of the Big 3 US Carriers, I thought it would be neat to see which Carrier's Device is TOPs!
You be the judge by voting above
I will keep this post updated as each Carrier release their respective HTC Touch PRO. So far, the most noticable item yet is - EACH one of the Carriers choose a different keyboard layout (see pics below) which makes this duel even more exciting...
Before making your choice of WHO the winner is, Please review on your own device on the following categories:
I'm not really sure there will be much of a competition between the Fuze & the Pro. The specs on the Fuze are on HTC's Wiki & are pretty much identical to the Pro. As you already stated, the main difference is in the keyboards. The other difference is that the Fuze is *slightly* smaller at 4.02 x 2.01 x .71 in. Most likely due to the difference in the internal radio's. The other difference is that the Fuze will have Push to Talk, so if that's essential to you, the discussion ends there.
Edit: One notable difference is in advertised talk time. The Fuze specs advertise 8 hours of talk time, while the Sprint Pro advertises 4. If there's any truth to that, I could see that being a major reason to pick the Fuze.

Good points, 8.
Not to sure about the battery life however, from several weeks now of use - it really depends on which radios are on and what your running app wise.
One thing to be for-sure, to save on Battery life - the screen must time out to black or device off other wise... I'm only seeing about 6hrs - 8hrs tops.
Quick Question for you and Marc:
Is it possible to make this thread a sticky - please
One thing I noticed about the Fuze was that it does not have a dedicated number row of keys like Sprint's version does. Instead, its like the Mogul where you have to use the Fn key to enter numbers and the top row is instead dedicated to the special symbols/characters. Personally, I prefer the dedicated number row as I use numbers far more than symbols/special characters. Also noticed that the Fuze has an added PTT button (which cannot currently be remapped but I'm sure someone will post a registry hack for that soon enough).
I got to play with a Verizon Pro today and am said to report that they crippled it quite a bit. It uses a Qualcomm 7500 Processor & has 192 Mb of RAM. It was not as responsive to finger swipes/presses and really lagged in rotating the screen when you opened the keyboard.
It is also taller and very square.
The TF3D is a horrible shade of grey with red highlighted icons.
Know nothing of the VZW variant so I can't vote for them.
I think Sprint was stupid to change the case design (honestly I hate the gray/silver rounded back).
The best thing going for the AT&T variant is that they kept the original design.
I'd vote for the Touch Pro on HTC's website if it was an option.

Just to be a pain, what about the potential Alltel version? Do we think it will share specs with the Sprint, or the VZ version? The "alleged" leaked pic has same outward appearance as the Sprint phone....
Like everything / everwhere else, there is bickering over this point at ppcgeeks as well. According to them, (not personally verified) the Alltel version of the Diamond has the same specs as the Sprint version. So perhaps if released sooner rather than later, Alltel's TP will too. (Assuming it takes longer to re-invent a less-useful wheel, as in for Verizon's purposes.)
I have the Sprint version but I'm liking the option on the Fuze out of the box. FM radio, push to talk, and talk time. I also like the shape of the Fuze over the Sprint.
By the way, what is that switch or button below the volume buttons on the Fuze?

I'm assuming its gonna be exactly the same just like how the 6800 was the same for Sprint and Alltel. Just in different color. But then again with the acquisition of Alltel by Verizon, who knows. It may end up being the same as the Verizon TP. That would suck.
I was hugely disappointed with the internal memory, because I read a review that said it came with 4gigs. I really wanted to not have to worry about ever needing to put any apps on a card...

But, looks like Sprint wins!
I think you are confusing the Touch Pro with the Touch Diamond (no slide out keyboard), which is the HTC phone that has the 4 gigs of memory. The Touch Diamond doesn't have a memory card slot like the Touch Pro.

No, I remember being disappointed when the Pro (as Raphael on engadget IIRC) was announced with about .5 gig internal. But, then I saw this review. Oh well, I'm liking this phone!
Something else of note is that my Fuze doesn't have the reported overheat/refuse-to-charge issues of the Sprint Touch Pro.
How long have you had the Fuze? Have you really pushed it? The CDMA TP refuses to charge only when I've been on the phone for 45+ minutes while simultaneously trying to charge.
In comparing the Fuze to the Pro, I've come to the following conclusions:
1) TF3D on Fuze doesn't look good at all with the white background. Hacking this to look like the Sprint Pro doesn't look easy, nor do I have the patience to figure it out.
2.) The Fuze has a much more solid feel to it. The sliding portion of the keyboard is much more solid.
3.) Even though the Fuze is slightly smaller, it lacks the perimeter chrome framing going around the screen. Because of this, I actually think the Sprint Pro looks better.
4.) Tons of bloatware on the Fuze, most of which points you to a place to give them more money. Sprint includes a lot more for your money.
5.) Fuze didn't include an SD card, case, nor headset. The charger isn't even a travel charger (prongs don't fold in), and feels both bulkier and cheaper than the one included with the Pro. In fact the Pro included a sleek shiny black charger that matches the overall style of the Pro. Where as the Fuze charger looks like any other generic charger. Maybe this explains the $100.00 difference in the 2 devices.
6.) Sprint has a much better back IMHO. The Fuze is shiny black and attracts finger prints something terrible. The design is pretty cool, but the color ruins it. A rubberized black, similar to the 1st gen Touch would have been a better choice. Having said that, the Sprint backing makes a creeking noise when the sliding keyboard is out and in use. The Fuze does not do this.
7.) I like the feel of the Fuze keyboard more than the Pro. Because the Fuze lacks the dedicated # keys, the other keys are larger and easier to press. I would love to take the keyboard off of the Fuze and attach it to the Pro.
8.) The screen on the Pro is ALOT brighter than the Fuze. If you put them side by side you will be astounded by the difference. The Pro looks so much nicer! Perhaps this is at the cost of battery life, which might explain why the Fuze seemed to last longer on a charge than the Pro.
