Interesting, I got the chance to play with the Fuze at the ATT store and came away with a bit of a different impression.

1.) I didn't mind the TF3D theme on the Fuze. Prefer the Sprint version but I could see how others might like the Fuze theme better.

2.) I thought that overall, the Fuze felt cheaper/more plasticy than the Sprint TP (especailly the slider). The Fuze did feel slightly lighter though but I actually like the weight of the Sprint version, gives it a very solid feel IMO.

3.) Agreed

4.) Agreed

6.) Agreed

7.) I thought the keys of the Fuze and the Sprint TP were the same size? The Fuze doesn't have the dedicated number row but in its place is a row of symbols. Still 5 rows of keys though for both devices. Personally, I like the dedicated number row on the Sprint version as I use numbers quite often and having to press the Fn key each time to enter a number was a pain on the Mogul. Glad its not that way on the Sprint TP.

Overall, I think Sprint definitely has the best version of the TP. As stated above, I prefer it to the ATT version and Verizon's crippled version is just a shame.

You were right about this, and I was wrong. The keys are the same size. What's different is the "give" when you press them. At least on my Pro, the keys feel very flat and do not provide much feedback or spring as compared to the Fuze. The Fuze keys provide a click when you type on them and have a much better feeling to them. It's bad enough on mine (the Pro), I'm wondering if I might have a bad device. I might go to the Sprint store tomorrow and compare it to a new one.

Talking What's this ? There's an imposter in the Ring - No wait... It's a Sprint Look alike

Striking a LOW BLOW to Verizon, Alltel releases the HTC Touch Pro First.

Hmm, Since Verizon is buying Alltel - we will just add this to Verizon's voting button.

So if you like Alltel's Version - Vote for Verizon Above

Enjoy

I personally prefer the Telus version -- less branding, no bloatware, best keyboard of the lot.

The photo I've attached is from Telus, but see my thread for more photos of the real thing.

This was posted on another site by user: bsepub

I heard you can't tether and be on a call at the same time on EVDO, but you can on 3G... that's a big deal to me. Along with the long battery life, small form factor and radio the FUZE wins hands down. I can custumize the rest of the addons. Fuze it is if I can get out of my contract...

GPS

I'm looking to 'pull the trigger' as early as tonight. Have had a SamSung i730 for years... Had Hitachi T1000 before that.

I'm probably switching to Sprint to get my Touch Pro, primary reason being the non locked down GPS. I use ALK CoPilot on my i730 and love it. As I understand it Verizon has the GPS locked down and useable only with their $ navigation option. It'll be nice to drop the external Pharos GPS and cable...

I use the Windows Terminal Client a little bit, but when I need it I NEED IT.

On the i730 I used Verizon's Wireless sync which ran on my PC to push my Email, contacts, and calendar out to my PDA. Our company only supports Blackberrys so this worked for me at the PC level. It doesn't look like Sprint has a equivalent. I'm hoping the link via Outlook Web Access will work. I'm spoiled with how well the Verizon sync has worked.

Edit: Oops almost forgot... I use the Slingbox Mobile also to watch via Slingbox my Replay TV DVR at home. Nice to watch ANY live show, any recorded show, or set something to record from anywhere...

P.P.S. Got one finally...

Looks like I'll be going to AT&T rather than Sprint. I like the PTT. Who knows, maybe I'll use the radio.

I'm an Excel guy (which is the biggest reason I can't go iPhone with my wife). Is there ANY way to flip the FN key for the top row only? I would love to have numbers before symbols. Maybe an App to switch it for me when I'm in Excel. Hum....

I actually prefer the Alltel version to the Fuze. Alltel sounds like closer to the Sprint version than either the Fuze or Verizon's. However, I was leaning toward the VZW until I read about the diminished specs...

But I'd like to follow up on part of #28 - I've been with VZW last several years and am still using the Treo 700W. I'm completely spoiled by and enamored with the WirelessSync App ("Powered by Intellisync") that VZW supplies. Is there any application I can use to mimic this function with Alltel, or AT&T or anything else???

FYI, the setup now: I have no business server (Exchange or Lotus) or anything like that. Outlook 2007 on my personal laptop Downloads POP3 email from Yahoo. WirelessSync runs a desktop application on my laptop and on the 700w and pushes any changes to emails and PIM (calendar, contacts, tasks, notes) to the phone or vice versa. Is there anything to replace this on a non-Verizon network? Because that is a powerful draw to the VZW despite it's inferior memory and stupid keyboard...

this is an old program I used many years ago but it works just like Wireless Sync but is far more reliable. Here is the link where you can sign up for a free account:

https://beta.seven.com/subscriber/login.stp

However, I would highly suggest you get yourself a hosted Exchange account so you can take advantage of Microsoft Direct Push and not be dependent on always having a PC connected to the internet 24/7 in order to get your email. You can keep your Yahoo email address but get all the benefits of push. There are several hosted Exchange providers out there, the one I use is www.exchangeemailhosting.com . Its $10/month but worth every penny IMO. Other people prefer mail2web.com becasue its free but there are limitations to it because it is free (unless you get one of their pay accounts).

Sprint had an equivalent called "Business Connection" but they discontinued it in favor of the next generation of the software called "Sprint Mobile Email Work" which, as long as your company is running an Exchange server and you are able to logon through OWA, doesn't require the software running 24/7 on your PC. You should check it out to see if it will meet your needs, here is the link:

Sprint Mobile Email Work

If you really want to continue using the Wireless Sync type software, go here and create a new account:

https://beta.seven.com/subscriber/login.stp

This is the company that made the old "Business Connection" software for Sprint. I used it many years ago and it worked well but I moved on to a far more powerful solution with a hosted Exchange account.

Thanks all...

Thanks all... I will look at these options. We do have a coroporate Exchange server. Our central office has a 'odd' way of configuring things. I used to run a local Exchange server but we went centralized. I'm hoping the OWA connection bit will work but I've learned not to assume.

Thanks Marty. Didn't mean to hijack this thread, and appreciate the answer. Weird tho - the "www.exchangeemailhosting.com" link takes me to an error code But at least you pointed me towards many possible solutions. Guess I just wasn't using the right search terms. The Seven site looks like it doesn't sync tasks (deal-breaker for me) but I found More on 4SmartPhone - About US - looks like it might work.

And the best part - I may not be stuck with the VZW version!

Here is the correct link:

Exchange Hosting with Unlimited Storage by IT Solutions Now

BTW, I would stay far, far away from 4smartphone. I used them for two years and always paid for my service upfront for a full year as they recommended and preferred. Midway through my contract (that I had paid for upfront), they switched from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 and forced all their customers to upgrade. I didn't mind that but in addition to the forced upgrade, they increased their rates by about 50% and required me to pay the difference in the increased rates for the months remaining on my contract despite having already paid for the service upfront for the entire year. I told them I was willing to pay the higher rate once my contract was over with but I expected them to honor our current contract on the terms we had already agreed upon. They responded by sending me an email saying they were terminating my account and 10 minutes after the email arrived in my inbox, my account was gone (and they charged me a $15 cancellation fee on top of that!). Its a good thing I had backed up all my stuff beforehand! They did this to a number of their other customers as well who complained and this is why I will never do business with them.

The link I provided above is to the current hosted Exchange company I use (IT Solutions Now). Unlike 4 smartphone, they offer an unlimited sized mailbox for less than 4smartphone and have 24/7 free phone and email support. I have never experienced an outage with them as opposed to the multiple outages I had with 4smartphone. Highly recommend them. I don't want to hijack this thread any further so if you have questions about them or 4smartphone, feel free to PM me.

I couldn't agree more about Hosted Exchange solutions. I am a BIG fan of them. I also totally agree with Marty regarding 4smartphone. Stay away from these guys! I had the exact same thing happen to me, and this was after they had a week long outage on there system. I switched to Sherweb and have never looked back. Also if you need to sync with 2 exchange mailboxes (1 work and 1 personal) you can use Activesync for 1 of them and Seven for the other. I'm doing this now and it works well.

Hmmm. Followed links all around, the Seven page wants a validation code?

Followed lings from Seven's site back to sprint, found Sprint Mobile Email Work, which I guess is from Seven? and sounds like the redirector would work for me, but the site tells me it's not available for my phone...

Site just not up to date? Anyone with a Touch Pro actually have Sprint Mobile Email Work on their phone?

A Hosted Exchange won't help, it's my corporate data I'm trying to access... Tried the OWA method and its not working... Don't know if it's because they have a subdirectory on the url... If you go to the host name even from a browser that won't work, there's a /OWA needed and it seems the phone doesn't like that...

I'm a beta tester for Seven. To get login via OWA I had to use the following format:

Username = [domain]\user@mycompany.com
Password = my password.

Does your company provide OWA without coming in through a VPN tunnel?

Well, I don't get that far with the sevin, there is nothing to download... If I browse to the Sprint Mobile Email Work software then try to download it I'm asked to log in, once I do that the site knows what phone I have and says it's not available for that phone...

I did try the OWA method with activesync too...

Yesterday I tried Emoze... Free push with a app you leave running on your pc.. So far seems to work great. Had me worried as it's free and I don't get how or why it is free. But I researched and couldn't find any bad press. I imagine it's a power hog as new items show up very quickly. But I made it all day yesterday so we'll see.

P.S. a Few days with Emoze and have to say it works great. Emails actually show up on the PDA 3-4 seconds before they do in Outlook on the PC, even though they are being forwarded from the PC monitoring Outlook...

Regarding Seven: assuming you have signed up, you need to open PIE and go to preview.seven.com. From there you select the option to download the software, then choose Other in the vendor pull down, then select Windows Mobile Professional 6. However, before you install it, you need to disable TF3D in settings, otherwise it will hang during the install. You can re-enable TF3D once everything is installed and set up.
