On my Mogul I was a user of both "PDA net" and "WMWiFiRouter" depending on needs. After we got WM6.1 on the Mogul I remember that there were concerns that we may not be able to do that without Sprint charges. Is that the case with the PRO as well. If so, is there an edit for that? |

I have WMWifiRouter v0.91 working on my TP.
Just make these registry edits first:
1. HKLM/Comm/InternetSharing/Settings --> ForceCellConnection
Change the value from "Phone as Modem" to "Sprint"
2. Navigate to HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing and delete the key: Extension - isext.dll |

Cool. Thanks. I did see that entry. Now just to make sure I don't mess it up, I literally delete one and replace it with the other?
Thanks a million! |

For anyone who is wondering, you should be able to use the builtin Internet Connection Sharing app to tether your phone via Bluetooth. You just need to make the registry edits that I've outlined above. |

Not sure what you mean. You need to edit the value of that key, so open it up, remove the text "Phone as Modem" and then in its place type "Sprint". |

Is there a way to do free usb tethering? I would rather be charging the phone and using the connection over usb than wasting battery on the cell and wifi signals. I guess wifi would be good if you always hook your friends up with the signal. |

When I first opened regedit I saw the items mentioned above. Now I want to go back and actually do the edits and they are not there. This is what I see:
HKLM/comm/internetsharing/-->
and
HKLM/comm/internetsharing/settings --> MaxCMConnectRetries
I don't see "ForceCellConnection" or "Phone as Modem" or "isext.dll". Where did they go? Why are they not there anymore? |

Yes, do the registry edit I listed above then you can use the builtin Internet Sharing app on the phone to tether over USB for free. |

Sorry, don't know why they would all of a sudden disappear. |

I went ahead and did a hard reset and then right away, I installed RegEdit and did the recommended edits. Every time I would install a new program I would check to see if my edits were still there. After I installed WMWiFiRouter I found that the missing entries mentioned above were gone again. So it is WMWiFiRouter that is changing my registry. Is that Bad or is the program already doing what we are trying to do? |

wifirouter may be changing things in order to set up your adhoc network for you. as an fyi v.91 is no longer being supported and v 1.20 works much better. its shareware but its worth it not to haved to worry about setting up and jumping thru hoops.... |

I installed 1.20 on my TP and it works great. The only issue that I ran into is the battery warning. Once I disabled it, I was a walking hotspot. Now if I can figure out how to get this mobile espresso machine to work, I will be a walking Starbuck's!!
I will probably end up purchasing this app. |

I just did a hard reset as well, installed WMWifiRouter, rebooted, checked for the registry entries, and they were definitely still there. Seems odd that yours are disappearing. |

I get error code 67 when I tried. Anything else I need to do besides the registry edit? |

I also added this key under HKLM\Comm\InternetSharing: MaxCMCon=0 and it is working on my touch pro |

That did it! Thanks! |

$30 is a little overkill for wifi sharing right? Any other ways around this? I have used USB tethering in the past flawlessly with my 6700 and loved it. Charged my phone, got on the internet when I was in the airport, car, whatever...
any tips appreciated! |

$30 is not overkill at all, WMWifiRouter is a great program and only a one-time fee (as opposed to the monthly fee the carrier will charge you if you use their solution). But you can tether over USB for free. Just read the posts in this thread for instructions, I already listed them. |

So I could still charge using USB and use the WiFi right? Just turn off ActiveSync so it does not try to connect |
