This might not be the best posting place, but I wonder what everyone else is using for a solution for email/calendar/contacts. LiveMail doesn't support mobile calendar sync, and Gmail doesn't support contacts sync. GAK. I need all three!
Have any of you figured out a solution using either of these tools to get all three items on your phone with wireless sync??
I just use Outlook 2007 and ActiveSync for calendar, tasks, contacts and the POP email account I have with my ISP. I just download email to my laptop and to my phone seperately and use my laptop as my primary email device. I could sync email between the phone and the laptop but I don't really find it worthwhile since I only use email on the phone to read mail and for brief responses. I always use the laptop for detailed mail or replies.
I suppose I would use an internet based PIM if I didn't have an ISP account with Outlook on the desktop. Do you only have an internet connection through your phone or do you also have an internet connection using a laptop or desktop?
Outlook "Connector" is a free download from MS that will pull Live Mail and, I think, other internet based email, contacts and calendar information into Outlook on your desktop. Then you could sync your phone with Outlook using ActiveSync to bring them all together. Is that your goal?
I would suggest using livemail and then also using myphone. I allows for automatic syncing of all PIM data to the cloud. I agree livemail is just not there with not syncing calendar, but myphone fills the gap nicely. Also, using live to sync contacts is nice as it makes your phonebook and your live contacts the same.
No reason you can't make a mashup. I would use the Live Outlook connector and Mobile plugin for mail and contacts in Outlook and on the phone. Then use Google for calendar on the phone via their new Google sync (Google Sync - Mobile Help) on the phone that connects like an exchange server and subscribe to that calendar via Outlook. Should be a workable solution.
Unless you are willing to spend a few dollars, then look at the Google premium account which lets you use the Google Outlook sync to connect mail, contacts and calendar from the desktop and then their Google sync on the phone acts as an exchange server to connect all three again as well. I think it is $50 a year.
I was really hoping MyPhone was the answer, but alas, all it does is back up your phone PIM data (email, contacts, photos, calendar) to a space on the web. That space can't be synced with PC or with LiveMail.
I use Gmail and LiveMail becuase I don't have an Exchange server at my disposal. I wouldn't need it if I could do personal email and calendaring on my work server, but I can't do that.
So I want a web based email program that I can sync to my phone. If I had 5 employee's then using microsoft online services would be great...but I don't have that either.
Does anyone know of a sync tool (free or pay for service) that will sync email, contacts and calendar for either Gmail or LiveMail?
Well I signed up for Google Mail Pro...The literature seems to be directing me to the conclusion that with that I will be able to sync my calendar and contacts to my TP2 over the air.
I am waiting to get my registry key for my domain so I can manage it. I will update this thread after I get all the changes in place.
workingmom,
I have been using Google's over the air two-way sync (their Exchange Server Emulator) for Google calendar and contacts for a long time now. It has worked very well. I have taken my desktop Microsoft Outlook completely out of the picture. I use Active Sync only for backup of my files and connectivity to my TP2. I also use Google Voice. I did not have to buy Gmail premium to do any of it.

I was thinking that using Google Apps I would be able to sync without using Active Sync, but after looking at it further today, it looks like it will still use AS which I need to use to sync my work calendar to my phone. I can't change the work environment where I have to use a wired connection to the PC and active sync.
Does anyone use a third party tool to sync that works well? I have seen that some people use OggSync. Are there others that are good, do any of you use some other sync tool?
