I guess most of us are just waiting for our phones to arrive. Mines coming today. One brief note for any of you who are still on the fence about whether to go with the Droid or wait for a TP2. I just read at engadget that tethering is not supported on the Droid and won't be until some time in 2010. That would be a deal killer for me if I were interested.

Still showing OOS here in CO. Thankfully, I was able to order one yesterday through a sharp rep on the phone, and it should arrive tomorrow. I suppose it all depends on who picks up when you call.

the TP2 is once again available at verizonwireless (2:00 PM 11/06/2009), at least in my zip code area 20815. That really surprises me with the Droid premiering tomorrow. Because the TP2 has been so hard to obtain, and due to some very impressive reviews of the Droid, I had pretty much decided on the Droid. Now I'm REALLY conflicted...oh what to do, what to do...

Hey Marctronixx...
Thanks for the advice. I actually got to play with a prerelease Droid today (thank you Alan!). It's the Droid for me...

I think I'm going to wait a generation before I jump on the Droid band wagon. I've got too much invested in the WinMo platform to switch just now.. and I'd like to see the Android platform mature a bit... but I think this is going to be the direction everyone will go in eventually.

guzzy,

i hear you. if i have to pick one or the other it would be win mo... no contest. the android OS is pretty slick but its not ready for us PPC owners... its certainly more mature than the iphony...

I dont like the droid hardware - The keyboard is too small to be useful. But I have to agree that I do see the potential of the platform.

Hi Guys, So, went into the VZW store today to check out the Driod and also while I was there looked up the Imagio as well (for the first time). Then went home and got on VZW's site and noticed that TP2 was indeed in stock.

So without further delay ordered one for Monday delivery.

Initially I was going to wait until VZW ships TP2 with WM6.5 but knowing how many new phones they are planning for the holiday season, including the Omnia 2 and HTC passion I was worried the TP2 will get back ordered again indefinitely.

TP2 is on its way for a mere $99. I went back to the store got a second wall charger and a new Jawbone prime BT.

By the way, Driod just doesn't do it for me. Granted it's new platform and needs a few years to mature, but it generates no excitement, not in seeing it, holding it or using it. Talk about an unsexy device.

TP2 is THE business phone right now, no question... S

PS: By the way, I returned the Jawbone for Plantronics Voyager Pro what a difference. The Jawbone prime had two strikes against it: comfort and sound quality. It's uncomfortable, regardless of which size ear bud you use. And the sound quality is too digitized.

Shiva I cannot agree more with you about the Droid. After experiencing the TP2 there is just no comparison - the TP2 wins hands down. Its like Rampage Jackson (TP2) having a fight with Richard Simmons (droid). Droid gets knocked out in 4 seconds.

I went to the Verizon store at the spectrum shopping center today and waited in a short line to get my turn with their display model. Well once I got ahold of it I hogged it for a long time playing with it. Just as I suspected the keyboard BLOWS!!! Its not bad but you may consider growing your fingernails a little longer and filing them into points so you can tap these tiny keys accurately. With the TP2 keyboard you can mash with the entire thumb and still hit the right key.

Don't get me wrong, the Droid is not without its charm. Its a well built solid device and it will make a great many people happy. But if you are a WinMo person you will not like this. The Droid works well, the screen is great, device looks hot but meh... I just wasn't feeling it. The Droid is like a hot girl with no brains - good eye candy but just not a keeper.

I'm sure in a couple of years the android platform will rock, but for now, specially for business users it hasn't got it. they are really going after the iPhone crowd. The phone as a whole didn't appeal to me and like you said the keyboard is a joke! However, VZW is coming out with HTC Passion running on Andriod with a 4.2 or 4.3" screen...

Touch Pro 2 received today. It's a sweet unit, and business man's ultimate phone for now. The phone is charged, contact list populated and has been activated already. The keyboard is the best I've experienced so far. Typing experience is like using a tiny laptop keyboard, with plenty of room for fingers to tap each key independently.

No more out of stock troubles...

Well the TP2 has been in stock online for a while now so anyone in this forum who has not already purchased one - well, what are you waiting for?!? I gotta say it really is an awesome phone. I must admit that the first couple days I owned the phone I had serious SERIOUS D-Pad withdrawal symptoms. But once I learned how to properly use it, most D-Pad functions can now be done with convenient finger swipes. Definitely a great phone but there are some minor issues I will open up a thread on later... but overall - a masterpiece!

I ordered mine over the phone, even though the website said they were sold out.

Thumbs up Got one!

Online shows oos for my area, but thanks to Radiogavin for his technique, and the use of dwdod's zip code, I ordered up -- $99.99 + tax after NE2. Fortunately, I didnt have any 'NE2 is only $50' bs that others have reported on this site.

mine will be here in December, but if i wait awhile it may come with a separate headphone out jack... and 6.5. I only wish Verizon gave it a better name ..
still a little confused about Os version changes and how they effect third party program compatibility..
