I finally got in contact with a salesperson that was willing to check the different warehouse inventory and the persistence had paid off. He at first said it was out of stock and when I asked him to check other warehouses he patiently did and I now have TP2 waiting for me at home.
Give Ken a call and he will get you all set up...tell him Scottie sent you.
I just ordered mine from customer service. They were finally in stock! I'll be saying "goodbye" to my Samsung i760.
I was tempted to wait and see what the Droid has, but figure I can exchange in 30 days at a cost of $35 if I develop regrets. But I am accustom to WM so I doubt I'll make the jump.
I am looking forward to participating in this forum!
well my friends, I have a new TP2 in my hands, its charging now.
I just went to my local store yesterday, they ordered it via "D-Fill" (direct fufillment?) and FedEx delivered it today.
I haven't even turned it on yet, but assume its WM 6.1
Congratulations! Count yourself lucky. For me, my story is I had a TP2 when it was first introduced in mid-September. I had a financial emergency so I had to sell it after only using it two days. I got three times what I paid for it but still... if I had known that it would be months before I would get the opportunity of purchasing another one - I would have held onto it
For the two days I had it, it was a great phone. But until I can get another one, my i760 will do just fine....

I just read these last two posts. I will give customer service a call in the morning to see if I can score a TP2 phone. The good news is if they haven't updated the website yet that means the majority of people may not know its back in stock yet.
I betcha the Droid phone never goes out of stock. They probably ordered enough of those to fill a football field.

I called customer support and they said out of stock. The guy I talked to didn't seem 'there'.. sooo I think I'll just call again. He did say they get restocked every week. I didn't want to ask why they've been out of stock for at least a month.. oh well.
Alright....here's the deal. You can thank me later
Went to the local store. No help at all, started getting angry since they told me this morning I could drive in an order one. Went through a slew of customer service people (on the phone, while standing in the store) and ultimately found out the following:
1.) The distribution centers in the midwest and south have them in stock. I am in the northeast, so everytime they called in, it said out of stock (because my store only can check the northeast distribution facility).
So prepare yourself for a fight, a lot of effort, but I would recommend somehow getting in touch with customer service in the south or midwest and then figure out how to do it from there. (FYI: they cannot discount phones from that level, you'll have to do it at the store).
It has been available since saturday afternoon on the website. As soon as I saw it of course I had to get my order placed... I just forgot to post a reminder on this forum. Good luck to everyone, and I hope they don't send me the wrong phone like what happened to a couple of other users.

Out of stock in my area... managed to order online anyway!

I went to the VerizonWireless website and did not log on. And (thanks to jcb193)...

...I changed my location (from DC) until I found the TP2 in-stock (in this case, Phoenix). Then I logged in. After my log in (to my surprise) my location continued to be Phoenix, AZ. I upgraded one of my lines, added the TP2 to my cart, and viola.
Now, I read a lot in this forum where folks had gotten the phone dirt cheap, or at least for $149. Perhaps some time on the phone with VZW CS would have been well-spent. But because my I760 is on the blink I'm a bit impatient, so I shelled out the $189 (includes my NE2 discount). So if the price drops in the next 30 days, I guess we find out if VZW will refund the diff w/o me having to return the phone for the $30 restock fee in order to get the new discount
Here today... gone tomorrow! Man that was fast! I saw it was available on the VZW site late Friday night (perhaps it was Saturday morn.. I'm still bleary eyed) and by Monday morning its out of stock... at least in the Nor Cal area. I'd really like to know what the inside story is on this situation!

Wow, actually as Chris Rock would say "here today gone TODAY" is more like it. The only reason this lasted a couple days is because Verizon posted it online during the weekend. If they had showed availability of the TP2 on a Monday or any other weekday it would have been gone the same day.
Oh hey, I know this is off topic but I just read an article over at engadget about the Droid. Verizon has purposely crippled the Droid's multi-touch capability. Apparently in the UK its called the "Milestone" and multi-touch is enabled. The TP2 might not have this feature but at least we aren't going to be thinking about someone else in the world having a better one. Here's the article.

Thanks to Radiogavin's instructions, I was able to order the phone early this morning by changing the locale to Phoenix, even though I'm in MA. Hopefully they'll send the right one!

rgh
Well, I just tried this (10 PM 11/02/2009) and no go. The TP2 was listed as "out of stock"
Still in stock. I ordered mine over the phone.. in the car (via my i760's horrific bluetooth). I was afraid they were going to sell out before I got home. The webpage still says that it is in stock. The person I talked to said that there were 600 in the warehouse - I asked if that was national.. she said yes. Yikes. Get em quick guys.
