This is what I have been saying all along. Verizon procurement dept. is run by chimps, primates, subhumans... But seriously folks, don't hold your breath for this phone. It will be in sporadic supply for the remainder of its run because no one knows what they are doing over in purchasing.

The reason you are getting so many conflicting answers is because this information is not shared with regular customer service reps. Right now so many people are asking for this phone that the reps are just making sh--t up so they don't look like they are uninformed.

I don't want the droid phone because its keyboard is a joke. For the first time in my 10 years with Verizon I'm honestly considering Sprint. I've waited so long for this TP2 phone that it really takes all the joy out of it when they act like morons about releasing it.

I am thinking of sending a complaint letter - maybe I will set up a forum for that - if enough letters are sent maybe... oh who am I kidding? Nothing will happen but it will be good for a laugh or two.

Sample complaint letter

I decided to create a form letter to send to Verizon. I know a guy in Tier 2 Customer support over at Verizon. I will call him tomorrow and get the names and contact info of whom this needs to be sent to. I think if even a small portion of the people who are waiting for handsets send a letter even if only by email it might do something... who knows. Here is the sample letter.

>>>>>Sample Letter<<<<<<
Dear Name:

This letter is to express my deep dissatisfaction as a customer of Verizon Wireless. I have been a customer your company for over xx years now.

In the last few years I have noticed a lack of dedication on Verizon's part to address business users and buyers of smartphones and high end PDA devices. Specifically, your company falls way behind your competitors in selection and availability of key enterprise devices. Your expansive network is not an excuse for poor customer support and continual short supply of hardware.

Recently this problem surfaced again when the HTC Touch Pro 2 became available on the Verizon network. It immediately sold out, and since that time has only been available for one or two days in the last month, and even then very sporadically. Many Verizon customers who interact on online forums are complaining about this, and if your company was more sensitive to the needs of the customer you would realize this dissatisfaction equals lost business and lost customers.

The Touch Pro 2 is available on the T-Mobile network, the AT&T network (Tilt2), and on the Sprint network. Many users that I have spoken to are considering dropping Verizon in favor of a carrier that has better availability of handsets and is more attentive to customer needs. Just because the Touch Pro 2 is not available does not mean we will buy devices we don't want or don't need like the Imagio or upcoming Android devices. Please allow the customer the availability and choice of hardware just like every other carrier does. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Name

>>>>>>>>End Sample<<<<<<<<

If you want you can write your own text, but lets see what we can do. Even if suddenly tomorrow the TP2 is back in stock I will still write this letter because knowing them.. LOL - it will be out of stock the next day.

Good email. I would also add in very simple terms.

"The TouchPro2 was the ONLY reason I was even considering re-contracting with Verizon, as they have become dangerously out of date with their business customers. Having the best network is no longer enough. Business people need good business phones."

So no dice on the phone # (800) 922-0204 anymore? I was told today that I could order it by a store rep.. I asked him to verify that this was indeed the tp2 and yes I could order it and get it in two days (at least 4 times). I then rushed to the store, began the upgrade procedure.. gave him my shipping addy.. and then was told.. ooh, wow.. uhh no, I'm sorry.. Can't do that.

This is rediculous! I know a few people who ditched their iPhone to get this phone.. so really.. it is kinda worth keeping in stock. I'm wondering if we can build a script/program to automatically download the tp2 order page every hour and compare changes.. then have it automatically notify if it still has the OOS or not.

Yeah, see if it has this in the html source.

I like that part. I will add it into the letter. Tomorrow once I get the contact information lets all show them how we feel about their business policies. I swear this process has taken all the joy out of it. When I finally do get the phone I'm just gonna go "ho-hum thanks for the wait...."

Damn, I just noticed that 90% of the posters in this thread are SCH-i760 users. I'm happy I didn't experience this mess when I got my i760.. If only the bluetooth would hold onto a paired device for longer than a call or two. I think its once the device goes into standby, but I digress... I need a tp2.

Well, either we travel in packs, or we are the most stubborn (particular/picky) phone users on the planet!

Nope, I get a kick out of the commercial knocking the iPhone, but I'm a big fan of WM based phones. Do you guys think theres a chance this might not be VZWs fault? They just sold more phones than the rest of the providers and are eternally OOS?

I went and checked out newegg.. and even for the expensive unlocked phone, its OOS..

Newegg.com - Open Box: HTC S743 Black 3G / UMTS Unlocked Cell Phone

The website says it'll be back in stock 11/06. I wish VZW would give us little hints like that.

Droid? Don't think so....

To answer the last two posts, I honestly checked out the Droid but I can't get myself to switch from WM phones. Regardless of how slick they make it, I perceive Android to be more of a consumer based OS rather than a business OS. I know a gang member who rocks a Goggle G1 phone but I don't know a single business power user who is using Android based phones. Sorry.

Not to generalize but the way I see it, its Android and iPhone for all the teenagers, fanboys, and afficionados of all ages who are casual consumers. And for us business people like me who actually OWN the business or the high-octane corporate men or just plain geeks, it goes like this - WM OS, Blackberry, Palm or Symbian.

And besides, the Droid's keyboard BLOWS No offset QWERTY and a giant D-pad taking up all the room? NOT.

One last note on the last commenter. Don't give Verizon more credit than they deserve. There is no rhyme or reason to their actions related to this issue. The only thing strategy-wise that may be going on is them holding up the TP2 to divert more users to the Droid which drops on November 6th. But even this ploy is too smart for their procurement dept. So I doubt it. There will be no answers just whatever them fools decide to finally do. We'll have to wait and see.....

And jcb193, don't be tricked by the droid.. Its not worthy to be in the same room as a TP2. Just be patient.

Hah, no.. it was just wishful thinking since newegg was out of stock.. Newegg doesn't have any agendas to push - if the same were true for verizon, that newegg website would be telling us that the tp2s would be available to order on the 6th.. Yeah right.. I agree, they are doing this on purpose.. Kinda like when they neutered the original touch pro so it wouldn't outshine their flagship blackberry. It just seems too stupid of a behavior/action to believe they'd do.. but this is a company that takes quality phones and actually removes features (and RAM).. and calls it customizing.

If they really are bottlenecking the tp2 pipeline for some rediculous VZW business strat, I hope it blows up in their face. I'll be switching if the axe the tp2 prematurely.. doing my part i guess.

I agree with Leemc.. the droid is unproven territory when it comes to Biz usage. I would have to see it, play with it, and try it with a number of real world configurations (exchange, pop, etc) before I'd drop coin on it. Its all vaporware at the moment.

This is starting to drive me nuts. So I call the local store (which is a large VZ store) and they at first say:
1.) "You have to special order it." So then I say, okay I'll order it. And then she says:
2.) "We're not getting these back in. They're replacing it with the Imagio. You can't order it."

And I said, cool. I guess I'll have to get an iphone. Zing!

So then I talked to a guy at Verizon sales (the most convincing person yet), and he said:

"We are supposed to get 420pc today and 560 tomorrow."

How did you manage that minor miracle? If you got an employee discount or inside line to telesales help us other forum goers out. You can be the Robin Hood of TP2's. LOL
