I am going to start the FAQ, and work on filling it up over the next few weeks. As always this thread will be locked, and should be one of the first places to look for information pertaining to the device.
The format of this thread will be as simple as possible...
Post #1 (this post). This will contain updated information, and general statements.
Post #2 (Post below this). This will be the index of the thread. This will contain links to the questions, hopefully grouped, which will jump you to the correct post in this thread with that information, which that post will link you to the thread the information was found, including information on other forums.
Post #3 (this is the working post). This post will have links to threads not yet in the FAQ, but might be useful. This will be a place for myself or a fellow moderator to paste a quick link to a thread that needs to be added, so when I do an update, maybe once a week, we can add those to the FAQ.
Post #4&5 (reserved for future additions)
Post #6 and beyond. This will be the FAQ entry points.
Q. Is the Verizon Touch Pro 2's GPS locked to only use VZNavigator?
A. NO! You just need to enable the Location On setting. To do this, go to the phone settings on the "Personal" tab in the settings menu. Select the CDMA Services tab on the bottom, and select Location Setting. Change from 911 ONLY to LOCATION ON. This will prompt you with a warning, as it will also after a soft reset, and it is ok to have enabled. This will allow you to use your favorite GPS enabled software, like Google Maps, etc.
Took me 7 minutes and 11 seconds to unlock my SIM by calling Verizon.
Dialed 1-800-711-8300
Pressed Option 3 for technical support.
Said I wanted to get the unlock code for the SIM. He stated this would void my warranty if they gave it to me, and if the result of the damage was related to the SIM card. Checked my account to make sure it was in working order (an account in good order, at LEAST 60 days with Verizon as a customer), and then gave me my SIM Unlock code, and it was unlocked.
Once you have the code, click the Start button, click settings (or just go to the Settings tab in TouchFlo), then All Settings. Once open, on the Personal tab, click the "Security" icon, which is an icon of a SIM card with a lock on it, enter the code, and hit done.
It will prompt you that the SIM card is unlocked, a soft reset, and you are good to go.
