i would not use windows media, its a memory hog.. GS player is a better one, free and light on the memory. tcpmp is another one but if i recall its no longer being supported by the original author...
but regarding your current issue, im not sure if there is a way out of the box.. i think its always been that way and most of us on this forum use other players...
How are you using the media player? I've been playing songs though the touch flo music player and pop it in my pocket when I mow lawn and it plays forever.

This might be a ridiculous question, but what Touch Flo Media Player?? I look in the Programs File (Sprint Version) and I don't see this application.
Going to the Music tab on the touch flo home screen.. I stick a few gig of music on my SD card and play it using that and it plays forever.
Of course the OP is launching a link from the web and that uses Windows Media Player, which I also have the same issue.
That's what I thought. I am running SPB instead of Touch Flo 3D. I wish there was a way to directly access the TF3D programs WITHOUT enabling TF3D itself.
I had issues with wmp shutting off after 3 minutes, but a soft reset fixed that. It now plays indefinitely, but will probably switch to gs or mortplayer.
i still use mortplayer, but only for audio ooks as it has great audio book settings available. I find Nitrogen be a supeior player in both sound quality ans touch interface.
Nitrogen is a nice player, but I can't find any way to bookmark. Mortplayer has this feature which is very important when listening to audio books or podcasts.
On my Samsung i760 I used Pocket Player to solve the MS Media Player problems. So far the MP3 player through Thouch Flo is working well, however . . .
Does anyone have a problem with background noise from the phone during music playback? I can hear a constant level of white noise under the music that changes pitch if I click a button or advance to the next song. The noise goes completely away when I press pause / stop the music.
yeah, the bookmakr issue with Nitrogen is why I use mortplayer for audio books. I like Nitrogen's look and interface better for music, but for audio books you cant cant beat good OLD mortplayer. I also like that since I only use it for audio books, as soon as I launch my book is queued up and ready to go at where I left it. I still bookmark in case of a reset, but I rarely need to use them. Start mortplayer, press play, thats it!
I have the HTC Imagio and have the same problem but it only happens when streaming audio off the internet. I can play music from an SD card all day on a BT headset but if am streaming and I lock the device it apparently turns the internet connection off after a few minutes. There must be a setting somewhere that times-out the internet when the device is locked or goes into sleep mode. Any help would be great as this is very annoying.
Well, I could see why they do this as it would eat battery, but you are right there must be a time out setting somewhere. As I have not seen it anywhere in menus I am guessing you are looking at a registry edit for this one. I currently use Pandora in the car, and when plugged in my connection never times out. For this reason, I am guessing it is tied into the power profiles somewhere.
My old phone was an HTC Touch and it would stream internet audio all day on my BT headset after being locked. I am going to poke around in the registry of the old phone but the regedit app I have won't open any of the registry folders on the Imagio, Its the PHM Registry Editor ver.70. I probably need to find one that is designed for WM 6.5.
I'm not sure if this helps or not but . . . even the built in TF3 player automatically stops playing when NO headset is present. If I am just playing music thru the phone speaker and put it to sleep then the music stops. Maybe there is some way to change the registry to assume or ignore the headset presence. BTW - WM acts the same way: when a headset is present then music continues even when asleep.

Speaking of GSplayer, I'm finding that the large-button skin I have does not work right on this phone. Do you know of a very large-button skin that works properly?
