Sprint PCS is matching Verizons $199.00 Price... (terms vary...)
i saw the thread over on another forum and called into retentions directly. i inquired about the price match and was given a 150.00 credit to bring my price down to the $199.00 that verizon is offering for their TP2...
some are having issues with getting the right person and others are getting the discount applied. if Sprint customers decide to call and get the run around, call back. this price match/new price is supposed to go into effect on Oct. 1 2009...
Went both in the store and called e-care, but neither could get the
system to discount the purchase of a new phone.
Oh well, since I never received the phone from the person on EBay (no phone sent out) - guess I'll have to start over again. Wish we knew when BestBuy will be getting the phone.
Good luck with bestbuy, they are idiots. Went in there yesterday, and they were like that phone isn't even out yet. I laughed and said go look on verizon or sprints website. They have been there for almost 3 weeks now. The bestbuy person looked so dumbfounded. I just laughed and left. Ends up the phone is cheaper right from verizon and probally sprint to if your eligible for the new every 2 deal.
keep calling if you want to take advantage of it.. several people have gotten the discount.
I am with Marc....keep trying. I called last week when Marc first posted and talked to Telesales, pretty pleasant call. I told the rep that Verizon was offering the TP2 for 199 and there should be some sort of Price match gaurantee.
She told me that she couldn't do it for me but she would escalate to her super. She called me the next day and told me that my account was receiving a credit for 150, plus rebate to match the 199. Sure enough, my bill just turned and there was the credit.
so hang in there and keep calling.....go to retentions if you have to.
I sent an email to ecare using the contact form at Sprint - Contact Us - Ask A Question-Manage, with topic Equipment and subtopic Upgrade/New Handset.
Question: Hello. I am requesting a price match on the HTC Touch Pro 2.
The current price at Verizon is $199 for a two-year contract. Thank you.
I got an email back in about 3 hours with a $150 credit that has appeared on my balance.
I have had very good experiences using email to resolve billing issues - no hold times, no language barrier, and you get a record of what you asked for and what was done.

they first said no to me when i called saying that this was price at the time, then i requested return of the phone and after being on hold for few minutes they submitted some form saying it'll get processed in next couple days.
... i went right to retentions. just called them up directly...
that is true. I don't have the number to retentions. Can you post for future reference, as I know whenever I have tried to get retentions I have to go to customer care. I had the number at one time but have lost it.
I escalated to a manager in Retentions and was told that only corporate accounts are eligible for the matching discount. I have a business account with 5 lines, but not classified as "corporate".
Can someone that's NOT on a corporate account verify that they have received the matching discount?
this is the case. if you can get your account under a Tax ID then they will give you the discount. what happened was some call centers were unclear of the rules and just gave them away. now after the dust has settled sprint have gotten their centers up to speed. if you log in to the business side you will see the phone being sold for that amount.
again, if you have a tax ID then add that to your account.
Thanks - I also tried the e-mail advice from one of the earlier posts and that was successful. Seems there's still a lot of confusion within the Sprint ranks, meanwhile I'm sure Verizon is happy to take the business of customers a bit less persistent with Sprint.
