Ok, I am impressed with the powerful BT radio on the TP2, however, with that said; what is the best headset out there to use with it?
I have a Jabra BT530 that I have been using however, people can't hear me as I am coming in too loud and garbled on their end and for me I have to turn down the headset to a level that I can't hear them.
I have been eyeing the Plantronics 925 but Sprint is pushing a Moto Motorola Endeavor HX1 Bluetooth® Headset.
As the touch pro 2 is capable of pushing all system sounds including music through the device I guess I don't need to limit my headset to A2DP variety and it's been awhile since I used a basic BT headset so any help here would be great!!
I use the Jabra BT 8010 - It is a detachable stereo/mono headset. It is not very attractive (just like every other BT headset), but it sounds great and is very versatile.
Can you use a Bluetooth Headset to listen to the TV/Radio, etc, & which is the best?
I want to buy a bluetooth headset for calls of course, but also want to use it to listen to Pandora radio, Sprint TV, etc. Is this possible?
If so, which bluetooth headset is the best? There are SO many different ones, and I keep reading about digital ones and analog upconverting, etc. I've never once owned a bluetooth so I'm at a loss.
I really appreciate any help you are able to provide.
I plan on ordering from this website, which has a large selection of bluetooth headsets. Let me know if there is a better website.
I don't use bluetooth for listening to music or books I use a wired stereo headset. The reason is Battery Life of the phone. I use it for business so I need to make sure if a customer needs me I can talk to them. I also carry two batteries every where I go must in case.
I have a Plantronics 510 that I carry for the phone but don't use it that often.
I'm a little picky about audio quality and tried several. The one I went with was the Samsung SBH-500, and I've been very happy with it. My phone is an HTC SMT5800, so performance should be similar for you. Pandora is one of several applictions I use it for.
Don't worry too much about upconverting, etc. With streaming audio in general, it's a given that there is a compromise in sound quality.
Clarification on routing all sounds through a non-A2DP headset.
Just wanted to make clear that the touch pro 2 allows you to channel all sounds through a non-A2DP headset. I have tested this functionality and found it be good overall. Here is how to do it and my observations on various apps that work. It seems though Opera does a problem with this and won't route through the non-A2DP headset.
How to route all system sounds through BT:
1. Go to Communications on the Settings tab.
2. Select settings (bottom right) then tap bluetooth.
3. Select the "gears" tab, then click the "+" sign by advanced and scroll down to Audio "hands free related settings".
4. Then check the box by "Play system sounds on remote hands-free device"
5. Click Done.
This now routes all system sounds through the BT headset at a decent quality (kinda like radio quality). I have tested this with my Motorola H700 (standard BT non-A2DP) headset. It works with all apps like WMP, Sprint Music, Sprint TV, Navigation, etc...
This means that you don't need a A2DP headset like the ones that I listed (it just sounds better if you have one), but it's not a necessity. I tried to go to pandora but it tells me it's not supported on this device. It appears that there seems to be a drawback in utilizing a non A2DP headset with Web based apps in Opera you have to use internet explorer to get it to route through non a2dp devices.
Basically you need a good headset as the BT radio is extremely strong in TP2, it amplifies any problems with cheaper headsets or ones that aren't working properly. Noise cancelling headset are the best.
I just order BT8010 Jabra from ecost.com, and it works great and sounds great, it's A2DP so the sound is much better. There are a limited number of headsets available today with A2DP, like those I listed. Most are non-A2DP because the manufacters are trying to push their stereo headphones. But with the TP2 you don't need it anyhow. Remember the audio quality isn't as good as with an A2DP headset but it isn't that bad either.
NOG, I too still have the software, but as it is commercial I dont think we can post it here. If you still need it let me know.
I used to use a 3rd partty app to route sounds that way. It was acceptable for audio books and podcasts, but unbearable for music for me. This is a nice trick for use at work though. If you work in a place that allows BT headsets, a single headset looks much more professional than a stereo one.
I currently accomplish the one ear method by just unplugging the left ear from my bt8010, sounds much better as it is still A2DP. But as mentioned above, these are getting harder to find.

Yeah...I have the software. What I am now searching for is the symphony-1-40-0.dfu firmware upgrade (I believe it was the last issues by Jabra for the 8010). It's small enough that it can be zipped and posted if anyone has it.
as far as I can tell it has better bt stability, fixes an issue where the equalizer resets, there are a couple of other things but I didn't write them down.
The upgrade has to be done through the Jabra Control Center application. It runs fine on XP but I can't get it to run on my Windows 7 or Vista box.
