The new version will likely act as a 'hard reset' just like all other upgrades. So it'll wipe everything you've done/added to your phone. Including contacts, etc. So make sure you backup ahead of time.
I'm sure that within a week or so after 6.5 coming out someone will have a tweaks package for it.
As for installing, always install these kind of apps directly to the device and not the storage card. But, it's fine if you copy the CAB to the storage card and run the install from there... just make sure you actually install TO the phone.
I have the Verizon HTC Pro 2. Yes I do want to get rid of the internet push memory hog.... my concern is... after editing the registry will the new version of mobile (6.5) coming out very soon over ride the changes made via reg hacks when installed?
Also, with a memory card , what is the best way to install these .cab's.
Thanks ahead of time.
Yes, 6.5 will completely erase the ROM in your phone, overwriting it, and then will load their default build on to your TP2, wiping out everything.
To install a cab, copy it to the device/memory card, then navigate in File Explorer and click the cab.

Even though they are old, read some of my guides in my signature. It will help bring you up to speed about Windows Mobile, file explorer, and registry changes...

Anyone know of a master list for manually doing these tweaks? Of the obscenely long list, there are maybe 3 of these that I want, and of the rest, it's not really clear which ones actually boost performance. And I don't fancy having to go back thru and manually undo all the tweaks I don't want.
I'm perfectly fine with most of the phone's defaults, all I want is more memory and better battery life. A stripped down version of this tool that is focused on performance and not the personal preferences of the author (i.e. larger scroll bar size on a phone with full screen finger scrolling? psShutXP--already exists, just hold down the end button!) would be greatly appreciated...
Basically I'm looking for this:
-I want the tappable battery/volume/handsfree taskbar icons, rather than having the notification bar overriding all of these. Checking battery status now involves at least 3 taps.
-Yes I would like more free memory on startup, and anything that could speed up performance like GlyphCache, but it's already a very speedy phone.
-The G sensor enhancements.
The rest of the stuff either already exists as defaults, is of unknown value to me, or is the exact opposite of what I want. Really, this phone has been a dream so far, from the amazing setup wizard, to the performance and convenience of most of the features. Fast HQ YouTube in my pocket is pretty amazing. Most of my friends think its an iPhone until they see the keyboard and razor sharp screen. Any phone that makes the iPhoneys drool is pretty nice in my book. It's so nice right out of the box its amazing that we need to hack it at all.
in the ppc geeks tips and tricks thread, those cabs that you are looking for are in there. the developer of the tweak pack just put some of those in a cabinet file and thus his tweak was born. the tweak pack really is a great package and it will not break the phones functionality. i have been using it for a couple weeks now... he updates them frequently and is there to answer any questions...

Just to make sure I'm tracking correctly. Initial download can be through the device, desktop or laptop, right? Then copy and such as you mentioned? I'm just to avoid having validation certificate problems, or having to re-purchase certain apps again unnecessarily.

Thanks, I'll check it out I just don't want to muck up everything I have set right now. This is the first HTC phone I've had that didnt' require late nights of installing hacks just to get a friendly interface, but there are still a few little details missing like the interactive taskbar icons. Other than that I think it's a beautiful thing.
Just wanted to let everyone here know that I stumbled upon an issue with the 09/25 version of this. The issue is talked about here. It has to do with the loss of the ; and : from the slide out keyboard with the clean up cab installed. The solution is to restore to the T9 correction cab as posted here.
Is anyone else having trouble getting to the cleanup cab link in the first post? I'm getting the error below.

I am having the same issue as poster #30. The suggestion below of relogging in / out did help. Suggestions? Could someone post the cab to this thread perhaps or say in English how to navigate to the thread and entry rather than just a link?
Thanks,
