I am highly awaiting this upgrade, and i want to see how the verizon users are faring with it, initial impressions etc...
Coming from an i760, the speed is the main thing for me. The i760 just became too slow and boddy over time. Plus is there any word from verizon of an impending upgrade to 6.5 yet with this release?
From what I've read on some other forums and news sites, Verizon isn't accepting orders for the TP2 until Friday and therefore the only persons who'd be able to give you any personal feedback would be Vzw employees who tested the phone ... and i suspect they are unlikely to post openly here.
Also, from other readings, it sounds like HTC has already officially announced a WinMo 6.5 update for the TP2 will be available shortly after the official release date.
I have read the same as above. The 11th is supposed to be when it drops. Also, supposedly $199 w/ contract and rebates. Considering the $350 they fetched for the original TP until a month or so ago, this is a CRAZY good deal for a device that would otherwise cost more than a laptop.
the asian and european versions of the TP2 does come with the Front facinf vga cam for video telephony but only comes with 3g bans for asia(2100) and europe(900) so considering the US versions along with Sprint, T-Mobile and Big red's version have US 3g bands for their specific 3g it also comes with 2100 and 900 making it a true global phone and verizon's $199 deal is way cheap compared to the unlocked asian/european version costing $700 (expansys) and around $900 in HTC stores in asia
The VZW US version will be CDMA but will support GSM for overseas use. I think they kept the slot for a SIMM card available as VZW does offer a GSM compatable SIMM card for travel overseas to it's customers for a fee. Nothing happens until tomorrow so you'll just have to wait like the rest of us. I'll be making a trip to COSTCO, Best Buy and the Verizon Stores tomorrow, but the Verizon store will be last as the employees there don't really know much and are too busy texting anyway. Unless COSTCO has an awesome promotion, I'll probably pick it up at Best Buy or order it via telesales (over the phone you can usually get a couple of extra promotionals/incentives, in my experience).

How did you get it for $99? Did you order it over the phone or internet?
I can order it over the phone for $299 and then they'll send me the $100 rebate. I was told it would be cheaper online, but I cannot seem to find it when I goto "upgrade my line". It does show up if I try to order it as a new customer.
I would guess the $99 includes the 100 you get off for being there for 2 years already - I used that for my wife's phone. I ordered mine today and it was 299 w/ 100 rebate as predicted. I did not pay the $20 for next day shipping tho - so mine should arrive monday or tuesday. I will post more then.
I can't seem to order the upgrade... if I login to my account the TP2 doesn't show up at all anywhere. If I don't login it does... weird....
Want to do the NE2 but it's being a pain. Even if i start from the TP2 screen and then try to login or upgrade it then tells me that page is no longer valid.

Mine was $99 with my new every two. And I had my sales rep overnight it for me. For starters they can discount shipping to almost nothing and every time I've done a web order the idiots don't process the order for two days even if you pay for next day.
Christr ---- I'm having the SAME issue. I can order it over the phone, but they aren't giving me the NE2 discount because I'm a month early. Let me know what you figure out!
I'm 3 months late on the NE2 so I should be fine.. right now i finally got on the phone with them and they're telling me I only get $50 NE2 discount... .grrr. And of course the girl doesn't "see" the $100 online discount either....
Tell the person on the phone that the device price makes it eligible for the $100 NE2 discount. Sometimes they are new and don't know everything they should before they start taking calls. Not defending anyone, just sayin'. If you are still having a problem and it's not due to the way your account is structured, ask to speak to a supervisor and that should get you all the promotionals available. NE2 shoud be $100 for this device, $100 mail in rebate, any shipping discounts (if they don't offer, it won't hurt to ask), and you should be getting it for the $99 everyone else is when it's all said and done.
There are a few markets that do not offer certain incentive/promotions. Sometimes it has to do with the way the state law structures sales over the phone or online (tax collections and such from businesses). That cannot be helped nor bypassed. If you fall in one of those areas, gripe to your states attourney general. I don't know where they are specifically, but I know they are out there (sometimes they do it that way to encourage patronage at brick and mortars). That can sometimes limit the available/offered discounts.
Skip the online and do it over the phone as has been suggested.

I tried 5 times to upgrade order online and I could only get to the accessories page and no further. Talked to service rep and while talking to her the $100 instant savings appeared. Tried again and still stuck at accessories screen. Guess the only way to order around Seattle is brick store.
Ok, had to talk to a cust service rep.. he's processing my order now. I"m getting the $100 NE2 and the $100 rebate (since this isn't online). So total after rebate will be $99. Maybe in a couple days they'll have the website fixed up properly.
Downside is my next NE2 will only be $50 according to this guy. oh well.
Ordered mine and getting Saturday delivery as well. Wow ... I only had the Touch Pro for 8 months. Looking forward to working with it over the weekend.
Rob.
