Thanks for your insights. Hey would you mind taking a pic of the back of the phone with the panel off... I 'm curious as to how the Micro SD and Simm slots are arranged in there..

Got mine yesterday and played with it for a while, I've gotta say, if there's anyone on the fence about whether to upgrade from a i760 wait no longer. I know I've heard a lot of people on here saying they might be upgrading from the i760, which I had as well, and let me tell you this phone blows it away in every way imaginable. Bigger screen, less heft (at least compared to the i760 with extended battery, which I always had to use), much quicker, better camera, more custom support (check XDA and ppcgeeks), and... just get it. I'll try to post pictures comparing them tonight. The tp2 is ever so slightly taller and wider than the i760, but it fits in your hand better in my opinion, and it's also thinner. Anyway hope everyone is enjoying theirs!

As requested. Battery, device with empty compartment and cover.
Similar as the above, but with the MicroSD sticking out for reference on the right side of the device.
Profile view of the right sie for positioning of MicroSD slot (with the yellow colored whatever it is) and Reset button as well as showing the thickness of the battery.
As you can see, there is a finger cubby (right side next to the SIMM slot) to assist in lifting the battery out of the chasis. The SIMM compartment is positioned under the battery when the device is assembled and closed. It didn't move at all and I suspect it is "locked" in with the metal strip (perforated on the left end as pictured) until a SIMM is issued and/or installed by VZW. I didn't remove the metal strip nor make any serious attempt to "ope" this feature, yet. It is fully charged and I am busy today so I'll fiddle with it as well as read the manual(s) tonight on my Mid-shift.
Any other picture requests, I'll be happy to help out best I can.

Just got my Touch Pro 2 through Verizon today! Can't wait to explore it and post my feedback. However, before I do, I want to make sure I set everything up properly... See, I'm using an old Treo 650 (Palm OS) - please don't laugh too hard - and this will be my first WinMo device. Right now, I'm synching my Treo 650 with Microsoft Outlook.
Are there any special steps I need to take to migrate from Palm to WinMo, specifically for the Touch Pro 2? I just want to make sure that all my data transfers seemlessly. I've searched the forums, but I've not been able to find anything.
i would let verizon transfer your contacts over. other than that i dont recommend transferring any programs, hacks or anything thing of that sort since those platforms are different.
moving up to WIN MO is a big step! you have finally grown up in the handheld world!
if you need any assistance, drop me a note if you cant find any information on the forum...
Thanks Marctronixx! Looking forward to the WinMo world! As for the contacts, do I really need to let Verizon handle this? Like I said, they are all already backed up in Outlook on my computer, so if I synchronize the new phone with Outlook, shouldn't this solve the problem? Or is this likely to screw things up for me big time?
Ok sorry for the caps but I sent an e-mail to Verizon yesterday asking if I could charge the Touch Pro 2 to my account. They told me I could up to a certain amount and my price would be around 150.00.
I'm on the fence about ordering it now or just waiting a few weeks to order and pay it off right then and there. I'm just afraid of losing the 100.00 instant rebate if this phone takes off in the stores.
I played one at a T-Mobile kiosk and was really impressed with it.
Any suggestions?
P.S. My current phone is an XV-6800 that seems to be losing screen sensitivity and I have to keep soft-resetting to get it working again.
Relax, you won't lose the rebate. If you don't get it instantly over the phone or online, then you will just have to do the mail in thing. If you need to wait a week or two before making your purchase, your rebate will still be available. It isn't a limited time offer thing. If it was, they would be obligated to indicate such in their advertising (legallese speaking). I don't think you will be disappointed with your short delay, really.

Yeah you can sync your contacts and calendar via Outlook no problem. I came from a Palm OS phone years ago and transitioned the same way. Instead of HotSync you'll need to install Active Sync on your PC to connect to your Outlook. Follow the prompts, click next with asked.. you know the drill.
woo hoo... welcome to the WinMo world

PS: just in case its always safe to back up your PST in case something goes terribly wrong.

I have been a BlackBerry user for years (did jump to an i760 for about 8 months and did like the phone). I am thinking about jumping to the TP2 from my 8330 Curve.
I remember using a program like Magic Button or something in order to CLOSE programs etc......is something like that still necessary or does WinMo "manage" memory better than before?
Also, I do occasionally need to run QuickPull (like doing a Soft Reset) on my Curve.....is there a quick app out there that does the same thing for WinMo?

The quick way to clear the memory is through the task manager. I am currently on i760 with Mobileshell 3.0. It has a task manager icon on the app launcher and every time I am in there I end all programs. If I do that consistantly, I don't have to soft reset all the time.
PS. This may be my last week with the i760. I've just been hunting for ANY negative feedback on the tp2. I can't find any save battery life. What smartphone has good battery life?

A great place to start is over on ppcgeeks, the touch pro 2 cleanup thread Touch Pro 2 Cleanup - PPCGeeks
There's tons of hacks out there for winmo so you just gotta keep on top of it. Good luck

Actually on the touch pro 2 it is not necessary to run a custom program, touch flo takes care of that, there is an option to allow the X button to close running tasks. The only program it doesn't work on is Opera Mobile which you have to disable a different way. Good luck!
Got my tp2 yesterday at 2:52pm. After missing delivery the day before was I ever surprised when FedX guy knocked directly on my door. More positives for this phone. Only thing is there appears to be program memory leak (remember that one with i760. Hoping cab on ppcgeeks will plug it.
Scrolling touch flow menus and icon fields is easier emulated than accomplished. I seem to go from one end to the other but can't find the middle. Practice. Practice. I found myself using up-down arrows on slide keyboard to scroll menus quite a lot. More to report as I learn more.
