And the WINNER Is: Tmobile PRO 2 vs. AT&T PRO 2 vs. Sprint PRO 2 vs. Verizon PRO 2
LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEE PART II
Now that we are getting the specs & release dates for each of the 5 US Carriers, I thought it would be neat to see which Carrier's Device is TOPs!
(Please note: This duel will play out far longer than our Touch PRO duel because the release date for each Carrier is further apart from one another)
You be the judge by voting above
I will keep this post updated as each Carrier release their respective HTC Touch PRO 2. So far, the most noticable item yet is - One (AT&T) or more of the Carriers choose a different keyboard layout (see pics below) which makes this duel even more exciting...

*** Sorry, due to late entry - Unable to update voting forum; However please feel free to post below if you select this Carrier ***
My vote is for Sprint for a number of reasons. Sprint has disabled fewer features than the other carriers. Sprint is also faster with ROM upgrades. Not to mention the cost of data is better than the others and they are not crazy about trying to bump you off if you use Slingbox. In the New England area Sprint's signal is excellent so that is not an issue that might trump the other positive comments.
Wow, this is the first poll that I have seen Sprint on top. For the first time I am proud to say that Verizon will trump all others. The Sprint battery cover is hideous, the VZW is so much sexier this time around. Sorry Sprint fanboys, but your not going to be faster than VZW this time!! It may take a week longer for me to get mine(Sept 15) but it will be worth the wait. Did I mention VZW will be a world phone....hence the world map on the battery cover.
Edit: Oh, T-Mobile's ugly step-child actaully has votes on this forum.....lol

A couple of things. We won't be staring at the battery cover not unless it has a touch screen. May not be faster but only because Sprint shamed Verizon into not disabling half the features and putting in a slower processor. Truth be told competition works both ways and helps us all. So don't take it as a dig. I also believe the Sprint phone will have GSM and be a world phone.
The real test
Who will get Win6.5 first. Sprint has been very fast the last few years when it comes to updating the ROM. Win6.5 has a lot of hype around it. There is no excuse for a delay. We shall see. We shall see.
Not sure about how reputable the source, but word is out that VZW will release the TP2 on Sept. 11th for $199 with a $100 mail-in rebate and 2 yr contract. I REALLY hope its true because I have $100 NE2 waiting on me!!

Yes, that appears to be the case. However with your data plan you may still end up paying more than a Sprint user. I pay $30 for unlimited data. I don't need Sprint TV or their GPS software. I use Slingbox and have the Copilot GPS. Not to mention Sprint actually honors the unlimited data plan as long as you don't tether. Verizon has been known to take a dislike to Slingbox users.
Before I ask of the request, I wanted to give a shout out to ya as well -
I was also thinking of off-loading 599.99 + taxes (Ouch), but much
like Marctronixx, my renewal isn't til Oct 1.
I'm thinkin' (actually hopin') that BestBuy will be selling Sprint's Touch
PRO 2 in a couple of weeks and I can use my whooping $5 Reward Zone
Otay, now for the Big Request from ya...
Would you be willing to grab the following information from your new Touch
PRO 2 (So Lucky ), and post ?
ROM
- Rom version:
- Rom date:
- Radio version:
Memory (Out of box - No apps loaded)
- Ram Size: 288mb / Free:
- Flash Siz: 512mb / Free:
This would simply be awesome and much appreciated!!!
A screen shot from system properties [Device Information] would be great as well if you would like to:
Version Tab
Hardware Tab
Btw, for those that would like to know - it appears that the HTC Touch HD 2 will be an Android OS. I actually almost purchased the Touch HD @ full
retail price just to get the 480x800 screen to replace my DELL Axim x51v.
Thank Goodness I didn't because the HTC Touch PRO line is far
better, course the Touch PRO 2 should have had a 5 meg Cam!
Nope, no Google phone for me - as there are major privacy issues!
Thanks again, everyone for your help and posts!
Tata for now, AT&T Touch PRO 2 is next - thou I'm not expecting it until Oct.
Because I spent a good part of the day on Friday on the phone with Sprint it was not until the evening before I was able to place the order. Otherwise it would have been full retail price. I also would have had the beast for the long three day holiday. Instead I have to wait an extra day to get it. The UPS order shows the phone just got a departure scan from Louisville KY. It was sitting in arrival status for a long time.
Have a good flight TP2 (Is that what the UPS airplanes look like) I hope it gets to watch a good inflight movie. The on-time arrival is set for Tuesday. I can pull the information at that time. Of course I will be distracted by the glare of the big screen. I can't wait to test Slingbox.
There has been controversy with memory. Some say the memory has not changed but the device reports slightly lower memory. There is suppose to be a fix to see the correct number. I have read somewhere that ROM memory is lower but RAM is higher.
Correct, the memory may only show 256mb
- but has a total of 288mb
However, I have been doing some math around this and
I believe the reason is just like the HTC Touch PRO.
There is 32mb allocated for ISM : (Intimate Shared Memory) for all models.
I adjusted this above for T-Mobile when I saw the screenshots of the
Hardware Tab in Device Information.
Memory
Ram Size: 288mb (256mb) / Free: 188.46mb
ISM mb: 32mb (Intimate Shared Memory)
Flash Size: 512mb / Free: 290mb (285.44mb)
Thanks again, Time. I'm sure you're having the same issue as we all are -
Waiting . However, I decided to just tell myself
- You'll get it... Just calm down
Oh, and you are correct - the upgrade to 6.5
(Course, Microsoft is now calling everything " Windows Phone ")
Will have the latest and greatest Touch FLO 3D, Woohoo!!!
yeah add my name to the list. ill get mine probably wednesday or thursday.
i just used my aircard number that was out of contract to get the pro2 for 400.80 shipped including MIR. had to listen to the lady.. or man.. sounded like a lady but name was "keith"...
anyway she/he told me how good and great the phone is.. after i told the person i know all about it and what i liked about it,, they still had to say the canned responses... hahaa.. spent 20 minutes on the phone...
anyway... i could not sit by and wait until oct. 1...........
I don't care for the silver key color nor having to use the FN key to use the numbers on the AT&T layout. The darker keys and the 5 row QWERTY format is much more to my liking as displayed by the others. I voted VZW as that is my carrier, but the actual specs by carrier would be nice to know. VZW does have a nasty habit of nerfing their devices considerably from what the manufacture offers.
How much on board memory vs how much the expansion slot (MicroSD) is capable of recognizing. I'd love to be able to get an OmniaPro, but it's GSM and not officially being released in the US. The TP2 will have to fill my needs/wants for a touch screen with a slide out keyboard. Just hope it will be eligible for the upgrade to 6.5 when it's eventually released.

"Actually, it's a buck and a quarter quarter staff.......but I'm not telling HIM that."
yes it will be eligible. its been posted that htc will release...
you can put in a 16Gb card in the PRO2.. and its GSM ready.... bigger screen... great device... thats what i have missed the the 660x and the hitachi G... the BIGGGG screen!!!!!!!!!! yes!!!
Thanks again, everyone for your help and posts!
Tata for now, AT&T Touch PRO 2 is next - thou I'm not expecting it until Oct.
Sorry but I didn't get the available memory before any programs installed. I guess I got caught up with setting this phone up. I still have an enormous amount of work left to do.
The Rom version and date are most important along
with the build date. This allows us to compare the various devices & ref -
when there is a Rom update.
Enjoy my friend. Looks like Marctronixx got his too. So, I guess I will be
last because I'm going to wait until after Oct 1 OR if it's cheaper @ BestBuy or Radio Shack (Oops, " The Shack ") by the end of the month.
Hmm,... How would you copy and paste from the keyboard without a CTRL key ?
Looks like T-Mobile is the only one that left the CTRL key, course I'll update this if this changes.
I took note of your reference to no tab key as well, but nice spaced out keys
thou...
Presenting our final contestant, The Tilt 2 from AT&T... Ding Ding!
Look out folks, AT&T is upping the bets with Windows Mobile 6.5 on board!
Quote from AT&T:
"As one of the first carriers to support Windows Mobile 6.5 in the U.S. and the largest distributor of Windows phones worldwide, AT&T has a long history of leadership in smartphones and Windows Mobile," said Michael Woodward, vice president, Mobile Phone Portfolio, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "Twice as many smartphone users choose AT&T over any other carrier and the HTC Tilt 2 and HTC PURE will lead our Windows phone lineup into 2010."
AT&T will support Windows Marketplace for Mobile in 2009 for access to a variety of applications on new AT&T devices, including the HTC PURE and HTC Tilt 2. Additionally, AT&T customers' purchases from Windows Marketplace can be added to their monthly statements. After Microsoft delivers Windows Marketplace later this year for other versions of Windows Mobile, AT&T will make it available to customers using those versions.
Windows Mobile 6.5 received several upgrades that enhance ease-of-use, such as a touch-friendly user interface and improved browser with Flash support. Content and applications are just a fingertip away on the redesigned Start Menu and Internet Explorer Mobile will support the rich experiences that many Web pages offer for desktop computers."
We are nearing the final bout, so get your votes in now!
Check out the awesome new picture added of AT&T's HTC Tilt 2 above.
There appears to be some small trade-offs with AT&T's Touch Pro2 version:
No 3.5 headphone jack
No Dedicated numbers row
However, you get Push to Talk (this was on the Touch PRO) and WM 6.5.
Just an fyi - it appears you can order your Tilt 2 earlier than the 18th simply by enrolling with a company email address.
Plus might get an company discount once you active a line.
Here's the link to enroll and order the Touch Pro2 " Tilt 2 " from AT&T
Hmm, AT&T uses the same Qualcomm Processor on Tilt 2
Guys, I just updated my post above [1] with AT&T's Tilt 2 Processor
information and notice it's the same Processor from their "FUZE" HTC Touch PRO release:
If anyone still has the FUZE & The HTC Tilt 2 devices like I have both,
Would be awesome if you can tell us if you notice a difference between the two.
Particularly any differences with HTC's Touch Flow 3D proformance.
