looks like there are a lot of software enhancements that could be very useful. I like that they got rid of the scroll and middle button and the tilting action will be nice, but I have doubts about the keyboard. I've never been much of a fan of the spaced keys.
Anyone think its odd that they compared it to an iPhone but not the Touch Pro? I'd like to see how the two compare side by side.
Looks nice, like the bigger screen but horizontal qwertys suck. I do not want to have to turn the entire device over slide out the keyboard just to text someone..also watching videos horizontally looks more squished with the proportions these kids of phones have. I'm waiting for the Palm Pre for Sprint, but I'd like to see if it is able to be fully functioning for Verizons network. I love my i730 so I'm not rushing for any of these newer phones which seem to have a shorter and shorter lifespan.. Ideally if they could get something with a large HD screen with sliding vertical qwerty like the i730/Pre, with a huge hard drive/memory, expandable memory, and all the bells and whistles I'd go for it. I'm waiting to see what Archos produces because they usually have humongous hard drives and this way if I can get something with a high enough capacity I'll have my PVP phone/pocket pc in one.
I have been realing alot latley about the Touch Pro 2, and tho i dont see a specific forum for it yet, i thought i would ask fomr pre-emptive feedback here.. I know it looks like not til later on maybe Q3 of this year for Verizon, but I want it BAD to replace my i760.
It looks MUCH more responsive, and the keyboard is amazing...
Ya, I have the original Touch Pro and it's great. Great enough that I doubt I'll do an upgrade to the TP2. I love the bigger screen size on the TP2, but otherwise, it's just the TP. For you however, I would totally consider the upgrade. You might also want to check out the new Palm Pre that should be out at the same time (if not sooner). Both look like winners (though I don't like the idea of not being able to use micro sd cards with the Pre; it does come with 8GB onboard however), but wait until they are both out and THEN read the reviews. Don't go by the reviews coming out now as they don't represent the product that will be released to the public, and most of them are PR reviews designed to raise excitment while ignoring any limitations.
Anyway, good luck. Sounds like you're in for a fun upgrade...

Your guess is as good as anyone's. The only consistent thing about highend cell phone release dates is their lack of consistency. The best they ever give us is business year quarters, and even that is rarely accurate. Could be out before Christmas, tomorrow, or after Christmas...

Best and most entertaining review for the Touch Pro 2 that I've seen so far.
It was entertaining and my only criticism of the review...It did too good of a sales job. I want it now!!!! The small improvements seem to overall create a really nice upgrade to the original Touch Pro. Thanks for the links

It seems these devices have less and less things I don't like about them, which I guess is a good thing..like the Palm Pre I just wish it had an expandable memory card slot and larger screen, the Touch Pro I wish had a vertical qwerty slider like the Palm Pre..but its such a nice looking device I'm thinking I may have to get both the Palm Pre AND the Touch Pro 2..geeze louise. Youre right the review did way too good of a job:/ I'm going to end up broke because of them
Stopped by my local T-Mobile store and checked out touch pro 2. Surprised it is about the same size and weight as my aging Samsung i760. It was tethered down so I was limited in what I could try out. Screen is so clear and of all the features I liked it best.
Keyboard is easy to type on even for my big awkward hands. Touch screen is much better than the i760 but still requires quite a bit of pressure to select or scroll.
I snapped a quick picture of the TP2 stats and it came out sharp and clear. It will be a slight bit better camera. Didn' try to video because as I said it was locked down. Also could not play with speaker phone. They want new contract $349 but I know Firefly and Walmart are selling it for $199.

When Verizon gets the phone, I'm grabbing one.
I HATE the idea that you have to push down harder on the screen to do anything. It was the same way with the XV6800. Made me not want to use the device at all. I also hated the i760.. I was thinking I'd get both the Touch Pro 2 and Palm Pre, but I think it's just the Palm Pre for me, especially since they got the Sprint one to work on Verizon.
hmmm...I've seen several people complain about the i760 screen and how hard they have to push on the screen, and I'm a bit confused. I have an i760 and I don't have to push very hard at all. I would compare the pressure needed on the screen using my finger to be about the same as pushing any of the keypad buttons. Is this what is considered pressing hard? It doesn't seem like it to me. And using the stylus, I barely have to touch the screen. Even the lightest touch works.
Is my screen sensitivity unusual or do I just not know what "pressing hard" is when it comes to phone screens? If the screen sensitivity on the TP2 is the same as the i760, I'd be very satisfied.
